I need to trial using cloth wipes for DD as it's possible this part could be causing problems (... going through a list of possibilities!).

So, um how do people work with wipes? Do you re-use them, throw em out?
If you re-use, do you scrape, soak and wash? lol explain?

I was actually caught a little unaware this arvo when I made the choice, so I cut up some chux cloths (unused of course)... is that ok? Or I should I go get something else?

Oh and um, cleaning, generally. Water for basic no mess *harrah* changes, and soapy water for poos? What sort of soaps?

oh again.. Im also probably going to be using sorbolene cream as well.. is that ok?

You can use old towels/facewashers or buy some flannelette and cut it up into squares.

There are a few other threads in here if you just search 'cloth wipes' you should be able to find some more info. :)

I just use the face washers you can buy at big w... the baby ones... they are perfect... just the right size and thickness...

I just wet one before changing his mum and off I go... very rarely do I ever need more than one.

And then I just put any chunky stuff in the loo, rinse the rest like I do the nappy, and throw it in the nappy bucket with the nappies!!... no stains on them yet!! :D

I use cut up chux with water when we are out. Wash the ones after a wee, and toss the pooey ones.

At home, I use white cotton facewashers bought in bulk from spotlight, which I wash with my nappies (flats). Chamomile tea is an effective cleansing solution, and antibacterial, while being kind on the skin.

If you are having rash issues, I'd avoid using soap at all costs.

I'd also be really careful to make sure that your laundry is well rinsed.

As for scraping etc, I am using nature's child or Bambino Mio flushable paper liners. I find I can use the liner to remove the worst of the mess, and then just wash the facewashers without much more needing doing. I just dry pail them with the nappies. I put the washing machine on for a pre-wash cycle before washing, as it results in a better wash, by ensuring the water in the machine is cleaner.

My DS suffers badly if I put a synthetic liner in the nappy, which rules out using the supermarket varieties (which are not flushable) or any type of microfleece etc.

I never use soap.. just water or chamomile tea if she's a bit rashy. It's a special treat for DD when I have just poured hot water over the wipes... she even goes 'ahhhh'!!!

Just use the washers, rinse/shake any poo off and wash as normal - don't use nappysan or similar as it might affect bubs skin and it's not needed - sunlight kills germs and removes stains!

I use polar fleece liners. I keep them in a wipes box (I bought when I was using sposies) with a mixture of cooled boiled water and some alpha kerri bath oil (just a little bit). I wipe her bum after every nappy change so the wipes get used up in two days and then I refil the wipes box again.

i try to get most of the poo off with the nappy which I rinse out in the toilet. So the wipes don't have much poo in them and they go straight into the nappy bucket. I just do a cold pre rinse in the washing machine before a proper wash.
