Just wondering if any mums have had bubs who are late walkers? (I don't mean out late at night wandering the streets  )

Ds is 14 months and really isn't showing much interest at all. He walks around if I hold his hands, but only for a minute or two, then he gets whingey and wants to crawl again. He's faster than lightning on all fours........ perhaps it's just easier and he can't be bothered walking?

My youngest daughter didn't walk till 16 months she was a great crawler so I don't think she needed to. I think if your baby has a great crawling style then there is no incentive to get up. Don't worry Wattle he will do it, you don't see many three years crawling:)

My sister was 19mths & still not walking was so quick to crawl she was impossible to catch at times then one day when my mum got her up in the morning she stood up & ran !!!!
My mums face pretty much said it all
She thought there was a problem so had started freaking out yet all it came down to was my sister preferred crawling & was tricking my mum LOL they know a lot more than we give them credit for thats for sure !
They say that those who crawl earlier are later walking but i dunno about that i just think each baby is different they do things in their own time.
It took Harry till he was 10mths to do a proper crawl compared to others in our group who were crawling by 6mths.
Im sure your lo will run sooner than you think !

DS is 13 months and not showing attempting to walk at all! He is definately happy cruising around the furniture or crawling! I am soo suprised as he sat at 5 months and crawled at 6 so I thought he would have walked before now!:p

Do you think their is any fact to the statement that the lighter weighted babies walk earlier than the heavier????

dd didn't crawl till 10mths - only stood up and cruised at 11months for the first time! and didn't walk till 17 months - now at 19months she is running!!!:smiliedance: oh and by the way she is no light weight! always has been probably just above average weight!

i heard once that apparently babies who walk later are more intelligent....

if this statement is actually true then my son is not going to be a bright spark

I think it's to do with their personality and when they're ready to walk they will .My friends baby is 2 mths less in age than mine and started walking at 19mths where as mine walked at 12months. They are both very different kids hers is much quieter and happy to sit and read a book and fiddle on the ground for hours mine loves to run , jump, climb and doesn't seem to be afraid of much. I wish I had a quieter one so I wouldn't have to chase as much.

My dd is 12 months old and does not look llike walking anytime soon. She even hates her feet to be touching the floor and will have a whinge if I try to help her stand up. She hasn't yet mastered a proper crawl either, but still manages to get into mischief and touch all the things that I don't want her to.:p

I am not concerned as each child definitely develops at their own pace. My dd is just a late bloomer.

Two of my nieces both started walking at 17 months. The other niece started at 14 months and K started taking steps at 8.5 months...
Children do the same thing, but at different times.
