MC - how long to wait?

Hiya

My name's Sharyn. Unfortunately had a miscarriage last week at 11 wks and was wondering if anyone has had luck conceiving straight away. My OB says wait a month until I get a periid and then see it's normal & then try again.

Was just interested if anyone has stories of trying straight away or after month & your success/issues. I know everyone's different but it's good to compare either way.

He said I had nothing wrong with me just the egg didn't conceive properly this time.:( Frustrating, but that's life.

I'm really sorry to hear about your m/c - it is such a difficult time. :hugs:

My doctor told me that you can try again after one period, if you feel ready. We've had women on here who have conceived without even having one period after an m/c and now are having beautiful healthy pregnancies.

After my first m/c we waited two cycles before trying again, to make sure my body was ready, but also to ensure I was emotionally ready.

This time we're waiting for a couple of cycles too - going to enjoy drinking wine and eating pate and soft cheeses for a while, while getting ourselves back on track emotionally.

Hi Sharyn,

I'm so sorry for your loss. I know how you are feeling I had 2 m/c last year and I am now 13 and a bit weeks pregnant and hope this one sticks.

My ob advised me the same as yours. If your first period after your m/c is normal then you should be ok to TTC again straight away. I didn't get my period for about 6-7 weeks so my ob was happy that my body had recovered and i could start again.

I'm so sorry about your m/c.
I had a complete m/c on July 17th last year at 6 weeks, then conceived again on August 5th without a period in between (bit of a surprise!) I'm now almost 35 weeks and everything has been completely normal throughout the pregnancy. The only question was dates, but an early dating scan fixed that. My doctor also told me to wait until I'd had my period, but this bub had other plans!

Sorry to hear of your miscarriage, big :hugs: to you.

My doctor told me I could start trying straight away but it was probably best to wait until I had a period. After a long nine week wait for my period to turn up we conceived that first month and happily everything is travelling along nicely.
