I am at a loss for ideas for DD first birthday in July. We are in Melbourne so it will be pretty cold and grizzly then. :rain:

Our house is not big enough to really have many people over, any ideas??!

Do you go to playgroup? Or is there one near you? We have hired our playgroup for $20 for 3 hours for DS' first birthday.

I live in NSW so I'm not sure if you have access to one but for my son's first birthday we went to a big indoor play centre. It was fantastic. It cost about $10.00 per child but that included all play, food and a clown for 3 hours and was fantastic. There are heaps in NSW so can't imagine why they wouldn't have them in Melbourne.

We were in the same position as you when DD turned 1 last June. Our house was too small and it was going to be too cold to do anything outdoors. We ended up making a booking at our local chocolate shop/cafe for a couple of hours. It's only a small cafe and as there were about 20 of us they closed it to all other customers. We had hot chocolates, coffees and lots of sweets and nibbles. It was a lovely warm thing to do in winter and was a big success.

A friend recently celebrated her little girl's first birthday in her very small house. She had a lot of adults and children there and it actually worked out fine. So I guess you can make it work in a small space if you really have to.

thanks for that~!

Yes Melbourne has stacks of indoor play centres, but i really feel like they would be too old for her, plus there isnt many children to come mostly adults.

I was going to use that option for birthday number two and up!

If you are interested in the playgroup idea, you can call the playgroup association in your state they will give you the contact details for the local groups and then you can just do a ring around and see if they will rent out their premises.
