Good Morning Girls,

I have just joined the October gang and I'm totally sh!ting myself.

For all of you who have other babies, what is the age gap with this new addition?

I have a 9 month old and I can't help thinking that I've just gotten myself into more than I can handle.

Is anyone else scared about the gap like me??

Hi jelly baby

I will have a 2 year gap. But heaps of my friends have an 18 month old and a newborn and they seem fine. They all say its easier with the second because you learn to put them down becasue ur so busy with the toddler!! I'm dreading the morning sickness and tiredness during the pregnancy most!!! Think how lovely it will be for your kids to be so close in age!! I do think ur crazy though lol:p

Ffrenchstar, CONGRATULATIONS on your BFP & welcome!

Jellybelly, I think it's completely normal to freak out at having a 2nd bub, whatever the age gap. We'll have a just over 2yr gap and that freaks me a bit.

I saw a friend yesterday who has a 14mth gap - her little boy has just turned 7wks. She said it was fine - better than she thought. She seemed very calm about everything. Another friend of mine has an 18mth gap and said it was a bit hard to start but is great now as her DD & DS are great little friends.

I think those first few mths are always going to be hard, whether it's no.1, 2 or more.

You will be just fine

Hi there,

I'm pregnant with #3 atm and there will be 2yr10month gap (I have 2 yo twin girls) but my SIL had 18 months between her kids and she was nothing but happy with the gap in ages. Her kids are 12 and 13 (nearly 14) now and still get along really well.

My DHs cousin fell pregnant with twins (boys) and when she was breastfeeding them fell pregnant again and had ANOTHER set of twins (boys) so she had 4 boys under 2!!!!! AARRRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!!

I know!! When I went to my first family function I saw this little boy run past in a red shirt and then a minute later the same little boy ran past in a blue shirt and I was thinking.....WT??! and then the SAME little boy ran past in a yellow shirt followed by another one is a white shirt!! Needless to say....I stayed off the alcohol for a while until I heard the story... They all look the same and have blonde hair....It's like Village of the Damned!!!

hey Jelly Baby, I am pregnant with my second - due end of October- so my dd will be 26 months and I must admit I am wondering how full on it is going to be. I think that it will always be a struggle in the beginning but they grow up so fast and change so much that I think as a family you end up all meshing together very quickly. My DD is 18 months at the moment, and DH and I were only just saying last night- oh god imagine if we were having another baby NOW....but you know what if we were I am sure it would be all good........so you will be fine.

A friend of mine had her kids 12 months apart and her first wasn't even walking when the second came along- now I think that would be BAD- imagine trying to carry them both around, but she has had no dramas!

Re: the twins story OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! surely that would put that couple off having s** FOREVER!

Re: the twins story OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! surely that would put that couple off having s** FOREVER!

DHs Cousin's wife had Lupus (or something like that) and was told when she was younger that she'd never have kids so I think they just thought the first set of twins were such a fluke that they didn't think that they would have any more.

They are the nicest, best behaved kids I have ever seen though. They are all so lovely with my girls and I never see them get in trouble. I guess when you've got that many kids you'd probably lay down the law early to save your sanity later on...

The first set were born at 25 weeks and the second set at 27 weeks too...

wow I just find that so amazing- a friend of mine who has twins actually says that she would prefer twins any day to a two year age gap (she has four children, twins were last). She reckons they are more content babies as they had each other, great sleepers, eaters etc...entertain each other! She just said that in the early days you just have to make sure you do everything the same for both of them so if one wakes through the night for a feed wake the other one up aswell.....sounds like your DH's cousins are doing great jobs as parents.....
