Oh there is a whole world out there - hey the GDUNH is starting soon, you should do that!!!
(Now, someone who can explain it properly come in here and explain it to Sam please :D)
To put it really simply:
There are 3 basic kinds of MCN (modern cloth nappies).
There's fitted nappies. They are absorbent and shaped, and do up with velcro or snaps. They need a cover (pilchers).
There's pocket nappies. They have a waterproof outer and a fleece inner (fleece means the wetness does not stay against babies butt) and an opening at the back. You stuff absorbent padding into the opening. These don't need a cover (because the outer is waterproof).
There's AIO's (All In Ones) They have a waterproof outer and are absorbent. They are quite thick and do take a bit longer to dry on the clothesline. But they are a one-step nappy, just like a disposable except you wash it inbetween uses.
There's also AI2's (All In Twos) where you attach the absorbent padding into the nappy, and take it out so that after washing it all separately, it dries quicker .
I use AIO's on my boy during the day. At night I put a bamboo fitted nappy on him with a PUL cover. (PUL is waterproof material) (Bamboo is extremely absorbent)
:) Welcome to the world of MCN! :D
