Hi gals,
Just after some ideas on how to get Lucy into a routine that has her asleep before 11pm... I'd love for her to sleep say from 7ish to 11pm and then have a fed and sleep the night (which she already does)...
Her is what she does now...
Wakes about 6-6.30am
Feeds and is back asleep pretty much straight away
Up between 10-11am
Feeds, up for about an hour, top up and sleeps again
Up about 4pm
Fusses until about 11pm - she's on and off the breast about every hour with minimal sleep in this time...
Sleep about 11-11.30pm
Any ideas?? What does your bubs do???

Silla - I can't help at all. Its really hard to have a daytime routine when I have school & kinder drop offs/pick ups. Aubrey's night time routine is changing. Yesterday and today she has been awake for 6hrs straight till bedtime at about 11pm.
Sorry - no help.

Routine? What's that?
I'm demand feeding so there's no routine happening over this way! Only thing that is consistent is that DS has a bath around 7:30pm and he goes upstairs into his cot when I goto bed, usually around 8:30pm.

We dont have much of a routine either, there is only thing that is the same, she usually goes to bed around 9 -10pm and gets up about 7 -8am... Wahoo.. Way to Charlize, way to go,...
I really dont mind for the rest of the day as long as she sleeps at night... ( I am demand feeding too)

I'm with you chelle. I have school drop off and pick up.
The poor thing was in good sleep on Friday and i had to move him to pick up Kayla. But she was finishing at 2 last week, has gone to 3 now so hopefully can get into a routine.

Yeah I suppose we have a pattern going too, it goes like this...
Phoenix wakes up, attatches to my boob for the rest of the day then he has a bath and reattatches to my boob for the evening, then it's bed time.
If he's not attatched to my boob, he's in my arms wishing, hoping and sometimes crying because he wants to be attatched to my boob

on days with no distractions (at home all day with no visitors) nick wakes around 5am-6am and feeds and is awake for an hour or so...sleeps for 3 hours ish and does it all again at 8-9am ish, 11-12pmish, 2-3pmish, 5-6pmish, 8-9pmish, 11-12amish, 2-3amish and 5-6am ish...
this is all him, i demand feed, but this is the routine he has gotten himself into...
oh, he usually has one longer sleep in that 24 hour period, say4-5 hours at the most...its usually his sleep after 2pm or after 12am...

Wakes at 5-6ish for a feed
Back to sleep till 7ish
another feed at 8ish
plays on floor with DS1 and watches tv for a bit
has another bottle at 11 then 2, 5, and 8
Last bottle at 11 then sleep in till morning.
No routine here to speak of either.
Up between 6 and 7, down for the night between 9 and 10 and anything that happens in between is anyones guess!

hey we have no routine either. i stopped breast feeding when my son was 6 weeks because he wasnt settled always on the breast and generally an unhappy bub. i went onto formula because it tursn out he wasnt getting enough milk from me. i was told when he was first born to do something at night so he knows it is bed time so we chose to bath him, since we have been bathing him at night at 7pm he has his bottle and goes straight to sleep. we are also doing control crying (no more than 10 min at a time) and it has him sleeping all night. not sure if that will help but it has worked for us and he has slept through since 2mths old

Lucas has a pretty good routine.
7amish wakes up- has a feed
is awake from now till 10:30, but crashes out in the car while i do the school run
10-30am has a feed
sleeps until about 2.
2pm wakes up feeds again
and sleeps
(pick up the kids from school now)
5pm awake again has a feed
7pm Has a bath
8pm has a feed and goes to sleep
11pm has a feed and goes to sleep
4am (sometimes wakes up for a feed)
I started him on the "contented baby" routine on day one, and still loosely follow it. I didnt demand feed, and now hes in a good routine.

lol
hey it was blo*dy hard work getting him into that routine.
its so hard to wake a sleeping baby, never mind how bad i felt doing it.
but its been worth it.
Sorta goes 5am first feed, then anytime from 8-9am feed, then 3 hourly til around about 9pm then fusses and whinges til about midnight... If I knew how to get her to SLEEP before then I'd tell ya!!

My routine with our daughter Bethany who is bottle feed is this
Wakes about 6-6.30am
Feeds and is back asleep pretty much straight away
Up between 10.30-11am
Feeds, and sleeps again
Up between 2-3pm
feeds, and awake
Bath between 6-7pm
Feed after bath
Put to bed and do controlled crying I know it is horrible but it works most times , I go back every 5 mins, for the 1st 10mins, then every 15mins then if she is still crying after 1/2 hr or so I give her a top up feed of around 80mils. This works sometimes not everynight, her last feed is 11pm and is usually settled after that feed.

have you tried control crying, it is hard at first but gets easier, zane was doing the same and i was over it so now i let him cry for 10 min and he is usually asleep before 10 min is up
I control cried DD1 from birth, but subconsiously with DD2 I'm thinking if I let her cry for too long it may cause her heart condition to have a flare up...
That and having a toddler and newborn scream at me at the same time isn't very appealing...

Not up to doing the CC yet... She is such a good baby the rest of the day, I shouldn't really complain about the few hours she is unsettled... Think she pretty much cluster feeds that time so she can have a big sleep overnight...At least I know she's getting enough milk for the day...
I started CC with DS when he was about 10 months, thats how long it took me to get to the point where I couldn't handle the unsettledness and rocking, patting to sleep... I will get to the same point with Lucy, I just don't know when...
Thanks

Hi There
Our babies were born a day apart but my little girl currently goes down at 7pm and she's excellent as that now. We had big dramas getting her to bed at all. I'm breastfeeding her so obviously on demand as well but our feed starts at 5pm and we feed, burp etc and bath at 6pm then have another feed and a little play and I put her down at 7pm. Initially she didn't like this and although it sounds awful, we did let her cry a little and go in to settle her if it went on longer than 20 mins. It took many hours and persistance but now she's out like a light by 7.30pm! She might have a little whinge for a few minutes but that's it. It's made such a difference to my day to have some time to myself at night.
If only I could get here to do this during the day!
Don't know if it helps, feel free to PM me if you like. Best of luck.
