View Full Version : Sydney Mums ~ March Meet

February's meet was fantastic - so I hope we can organise an even BETTER March meet with even MORE people!
I think by looking a couple of dates later on in the month after Easter is all over and done with will be better - that way we can plan ahead and make sure we are all free.
Jedd is in daycare on Thursdays - so any day but that is fine for us. I think Nat works Mon-Wed - and I don't know what everyone else's permanent commitments are. So at this stage I'm tipping a Friday/Saturday/Sunday (daddies welcome too!!)
It has also been suggested that we go to a playcentre. That way we don't have to worry about water, fences, crawlers can go nuts, runners can go riot, and we can all chill out and chit-chat with a cuppa. Bonuses all round
If you know of a playcentre that is close to public transport and has parking nearby then please make the suggestion - we'd love to hear it!
We'll chat about availability and playcentre suggestions here -
but I will post out the FINAL date/time/location via pm's for cyber-safety
Friday 28th March
Saturday 29th March
Sunday 30th March
So - what works for everyone? :D

YAY How exciting!!!!
Friday, Saturday or Sunday work for me :D Preferably Friday as peter may go see his dad on the weekend and I have no idea what day yet.
Me and Krisseh were talking about going to the Wiggles play centre in Seven Hills maybe? It's not far from Blacktown and has a train station.
That's the only one I know of near public transport.
I can't wait for the next meet :D

I do believe any of those dates should be fine with us !
As its already been stated as long as i can get there via the train im happy !
Friday would be a great day to visit the wiggly play centre. Dorothy visits those days!! The kids love it!! It is about a 10 min walk from Seven Hills station but its pretty easy .. there is a bus also if need be.
Thats the only one I know of that is pretty close to public transport.

KATIE
kharbour@optusnet.com.au
It would be lovely to meet you Katie!!
Where abouts in sydney are you from?
Hi Girls, I'm up for it again. Fridays are best for me as DH is about to start a new rugby season so saturdays are going to be cheer on daddy days for us for a while.
I don't really mind where we go. The only indoor play centre i know of is at Fox Studios at Moore Park and i haven't actually been in there yet.
Oooh rugby! My dad used to run a rugby club a few years back . .so miss those days!!

Hi Ladies,
I live at Peakhurst which is in the St George Area.
Ive heard that Little Dynamos at Waterloo is the biggest and best play centre in Sydney, i havent been there myself though.
I dont mind where you meet as i am pretty central to all of Sydney.

I'm going to Little Dynamos next week with my mothers group - will give an update on it :)
Sounds great, I missed the last one. :)
Little Dynamos is a great place. I have been there a few times and Matilda loved it. I can only get there if I get a lift though. It isnt very public transport friendly if a few of the hubbers come
well if you miss going to the rugby you are always welcome to come along and watch one weekend;)

I missed the feb meet :(
Fridays are great for me!
I'd love to check out wiggy play centre.
I recently went to Lollypops in Penrith and was most impressed, lots of parking but not near a station unfortunately.

Is it okay if me and my kids come along?:)
Of course it is!! Would be great to see more new faces!

TinyStar - Lollipops in Penrith is great isn't it  It is a shame though that you do need a car to get there!
Chicky2lala - Of course you're welcome
Pink Lady - Make sure you let us know how that play centre is :D
Can't wait for the next meet :D
Let me know where and when and I'll try my best :) Uni has started back up so I'm going to be a bit flat out getting work done.
Ive heard that Little Dynamos at Waterloo is the biggest and best play centre in Sydney, i havent been there myself though.
.
Ive been there, it is good but to be honest i found it quite noisy and i like the wiggles centre and hocus pocus better!
Wiggles centre is good and if we please pretty please do the friday and meet there a little early it works out brilliantly for me as we leave to go on holiday that afternoon so have a 2-3 hour car trip on my hands so abby will be nice and exhausted by the time we leave :D so i may get there early so she is even more worn out  she loves the wiggles play centre!
what about clown town is that central to public transport?
Beany you have to come meet robbie!
hehe that would be good. Give me a break from organsing birthdays!

Where is wiggles play centre.
Do you know which friday yet??
Girls, friendly mod post to remind you about posting too much meet information in the general forum.
Place either only the dates or the place and PM the rest of the details - these forums are viewable by anyone so it's important for the safety of those attending the meet - adult and child - to keep this rule in place!
Enjoy the meet!
Too far from me! Maybe next time!

I'm going to Little Dynamos next week with my mothers group - will give an update on it :)
Little Dynamos is fantastic! My mothers group is going to make it a normal weekly location - there are 2 play rooms; one for crawling/just walking tots, and another larger one for kids who want to climb. There is also a jumping castle and 2 ball pits.
Maybe we could make a DOUBLE MEET!!! One location on the Friday and then another on Sunday?
Can I have a pm please?
Still haven't got one.
when/where is the meet on sunday?
chicky2lala
11-03-2008, 11:46
can i get a pm too please?
There's a meet on Sunday?
I is tweewwibly confused ....
MilkOnTap
11-03-2008, 12:43
No PM's have gone out yet cause we haven't decided on a date/location/time.
I'm guessing that the Sunday will suit most. Not sure about Wiggly Play centre - not really central for everyone. I have been to Lil Dynamos and that was fantastic - though again, not really central for everyone.
Any other more central suggestions?
How about swimming? There's a good kiddy pool in Cook and Phillip Park (Hyde Park).
Asher gets his cast off on wednesday so I'm taking him for a dunk this weekend anyway :D
chicky2lala
11-03-2008, 13:17
Omg im in panick mode just thinking about trying to wrestle with my 2 in a pool!
It would be lovely to do for those with just one kidlet, but 2 under 3 i feel would just be impossible.

Brilliant idea! I would love to do that!
(though I think some ppl want to avoid DH cause of the water...)
I thought friday the 28th had been decided??
Either way I wouldnt mind taking a dip with Matilda. . she loves water

I can't afford another trip so close to town again.
Sorry.

Nothing has been decided so there hasn't been any PM's sent yet. No need to be like that.

It's great. The kids area goes from barely a few cm's to upwards with little fountains and that sort of thing. There is also an outside bit as well.

Can I grab a PM? :)
~J'dore~
11-03-2008, 17:42
I'd love to go to the olympic aquatic centre. I can only make the friday the 28th.
Chicky2lala we'd love to have you there. Just still trying to work out the details first:hugs:
if it is at a pool im out for this one sorry guys! Cannot even begin to fathom going anywhere near a pool with my body now the way it is BUT we leave to go on holiday at about 1pm that day so going to a pool that morning is just asking for trouble in the car for hours
Am happy to meet somewhere non aquatic thought? same place as normal at homebush?
I can make it to Alexandria as well as I have a stop off somewhere around there before we go
Oh and Seven hills still has a big tick from me! Close to public transport, ok for parking and is big to entertain kids for a while
or the one at Villawood, I know babeebumblebee found out there is a bus that goes straight there so still a  for public transport.
Chicky2lala-we are still talking over the finer points of organising the meet/s and once everything is organised a pm list will be made and pms sent out  Let us know if you still would like a pm

Yeah I think something non aquatic may be easier for everyone.
I also think Seven Hills (The Wiggly Play Centre) would be great as it's pretty easy for everyone to get to, from east, west etc...
I think Homebush would be another good place (like Kizmet suggested) as again it's not too far from everyone :)

I can't do Sunday, I work.
Friday would suit us best (but if it's Sunday then we will just try make the next one.)
I agree, something non aquatic... I'm with Kate, so not feeling cozi worthy right now... I look like i've eaten to many big macs!

Okay - PM's are out! If you missed out on one please let me know (tis late lol).
I may/may not make it to Seven Hills - but will go to Little Dynamo's in Waterloo on the Sunday. So anyone who is interested, please let me know and I'll give you the location/time details via PM :)
ETA - Please post whether you are coming or not - as if we have more than 10 kidlets (over 12 months) we can get a group discount
Ally: let me know the details of Little Dynamos and we'll see . Or come swimming! :D (all welcome)

I will be there for Seven Hills but not Waterloo. After making such a big trip last time to Darling Harbour (1hour drive there and back), my budget won't allow for another big trip.
Hope you have fun on the sunday :) Wish you could come to Seven Hills though :hugs:
We are going to try really hard to make it.
Depending on what my stomach is like on the day tho...
oh waterloo is sunday the 30th? We will still be away then so will hav eto catch up another time!
I can do the friday though :) we will probably be there a little earlier than the time in the pm because we will have to leave earlier to hit the road for our trip. (Hoping to convince DH to get the train to the station near where we are meeting so we can stay longer )

Awww .. . your not coming to Matilda's party then?
Friday I will efinitely be there.. .sunday is Matilda's party so wont be able to make it
will be at the Seven Hills meet. We may even get there half hour - an hour earlier because Eli is due for a sleep by 1pm...
So when I'm driving home he will fall asleep...
If anyone else with toddlers wants to join me...bring it on! x
We will be there about 10.30 . .if I leave it to late Matilda gets grumpy on the train

I also really wanted to go to that rally Beany !!!!
But it all looks like going down the toilet !
If we dont end up in hospy this weekend with Squeak then next week will probably see something happening im afraid !
I hope all's well, Ally :hugs:
Let me know if there's anything I can do. And do come along to the rally if possible. No shaving necessary - in fact, I think it's strongly discouraged.

I am keen for a meet soon, and Fridays are good for us too. I'll skip on Wiggly Centre, I'm not a fan of it at all...
If there is one in a nice outdoor playground in the future, I'll be there with bells on AND i will bring the cake!
The one at West Ryde that TinyStar introduced me to is great, and free. Also, Wizzy world at Chatswood is great. There is a Lollipops at North Strathfield, very close to the train station - it is fantastic, well laid out and very clean. Also not too noisy, and no hidden corners like Wiggly world - plus no merchandise to have to drag the kidlets through!
PS I saw a shirt today and thought of you Ash and Beany - "I'm only here for the cake!!"
Meet is the 28th . .next friday Ash
Those places sound great, Bec!
Let me know when :D

I wasn't expecting to move this weekend and we did (yesterday) and I had to fork out $1500 for bond and 2 weeks rent so I'm totally broke this week and can't afford it :(
Hope you all have fun xxx
Who is coming??
If there isn't many I might not go . . with dad in hospital at the moment I dont know whats going on
ooh, dh is still off work then... we can all come :)

Sounds wonderful.
Bec lol @ that shirt. Sounds very much like me. And *cough* beany and you! :p
I might be able to make this Friday.
Feeling game about training it but I'll call our friend, (our personal mechanic), and see how long until the car is finished and :fingerscrossed: if it's ready before Friday, I can drive down.
:smiliedance:<<<- This is me cheering because that's how much I can't stand the train with a toddler. :goodvibes:
Oooh if your coming Pam I wanna come too!! I wanna see little baby elora!!
Hehehehe
Hopefully dad is out of hospital etc by then and things are going well!
we're a maybe, depending on if we have to pick up DH from work. If we dont then we will be there if we do then we wont (purely because I need the kids to have a big sleep in the car all the way)

oh no:hugs: how's he holding up?
I think it all hasn't sunk in yet . .especially for him and my mum. . at the moment his kidney is only working at 17% . .(He only has one). . they aren't sure why but it is only going to get worse. . once it gets down towards 10% he will need dialysis. . but they said his best bet is to get a new kidney before things go to far down hill. So we are talking to all the family etc to see who can get tested and such . . . .
