As a relative Newbie to this wonderful country, I have often heard ""or anything in season"" in recipies etc.
I was just wondering how I would work out what is in season when, as figure the quality and price would be fab:D
Any ideas of what fruit and veg are in season when?
:oHope this isn`t something totally obvious to you all:o

QTB you have made me feel better:laughing:
I have been thinking you all have this great knowledge of whats in season when!! You know like a big secret you aren`t in on:D
Maybe the cheaper stuff is whats in:detective:
Bananas were $1 a kilo last week near us:yelclap:
This website (http://www.postharvest.com.au/Availability.htm)should help you out!
Don't just go by whats at your supermarket- have you ever wondered why there are things like apples and banana's all year round? It's because they are picked during their season and then put into cold storage. It doesn't mean they are unedible, but they are not as wonderful as when they are in fresh. (Eg I HATE apples in summer- I think they are awful!)
Stone fruits and tropical fruits are your big ones during summer...
tomatoes and your salady type vegetables are normally the summer stuff too... I just go by what I hear people are picking! (I live in the "food bowl" of Aus, so that makes it much easier!)

Thanks for that!! Looks to be all the info I need.
I am a big fan of my local F and V shop, sometimes not as convenient but well worth it.
I guess I could ask them but feel safer in here:laughing::o
The stone and tropical tips are a great help. Lots of different fruits over this side of the world for us to enjoy.
