View Full Version : To turn or not to turn?
Just wondering how long you should continue turning baby's head to avoid flat spots?
My bub is now 12 weeks old and she has always favoured sleeping with her head turned to the left, and you can notice a flat spot there. It's not too bad, but every time I turn her head to the other side,a few minutes later she turns it back again!(this is while she is sleeping).
Should I be concerned and what else can I do?
my son has the same problem apparently there is nothing much that can be done other than giving lots of tummy time and the flat spot disapears as they learn to sit up more when they are older.
hope this helps

My eldest son favoured his right sideand so has a flat spot on one side of his head. As a baby it became quite pronounced, and although it has evened out since then I can still notice it. He is now 3.
I would suggest moving your cot around so that when she is looking to the door for you to come in she has to turn her head the other way. Babies learn very early which way we come into the room!
We also made sure when he was on his tummy that we got him to turn his head both ways to make sure he didn't get a stiff neck.
Good luck, hope it helps

talk to your doctor or see a chiropractor. I know of a couple of bubs who have done the same. One ended up having to wear a helmet to correct it..$700! The other had a massage by the chiropractor and he is fine now. Things get squashed and pushed out of place during birth, better to find out early.
