Im making a chicken sweet corn soup, and it say's I need cornflour to thicken...I dont have any cornflour and cant be bothered going to the shop to get some. Would anyone no what I can use instead?

Also Im making creme caramel. The dish has to be oven proof, can I use a glass dish? my dish doesnt say it's oven proof though so Im unsure.

when you say glass dish is it like those pyrex ones? A thick glass? I have some glass trays/dishes i use, they are thicker than standard glass though but i just make sure i dont have the oven too hot havent had any problems.

Not sure about thickening though sorry :(

Nah its not pyrex..Its thicker than normal glass. I might give it a go.

I don't usually bother thickening anyway. You could maybe try a bit of flour mixed with water to make a paste? I'm not sure though.

Pyrex is ok in the oven but not sure of regular glass. I would think so but really not sure.

Hmm, I don't sound very helpful do I! Hope it all turns out well.

i dont think it would matter if your didnt thicken it but if you wanted to have it think you can always just use normal flour but dont use as much as you would with cornflour :D

To thicken, put two table spoons of plain flour - full ones in to cup and put cold water about 1/2 - 3/4 of cup. Mix well till no smooth. Pour into boiling soup. :thumbsup: And boil for 10 mins. Works better than cornflour. At least you can not taste it!!
