Hi,
I have A Rh(D)- blood, and we're yet to find out what DH has.
I have read a little bit about what can happen. I was just wondering if anyone has any experience of having a (+ blood group) father of said baby? Does that make sense??
Do you need lots of injections? does your body reject the baby?

What happens???

Thanks
Rach

hey rach, im o- and dh is +, if this is your first bub you'll need to get a few anti d shots, dont worry they dont hurt. and after birth if your baby is + than you'll need another. also if you have any bleeding in pg you'll need one too.

your body doesnt reject the baby if there are no antibodies in your blood, thats what the anti is for. im not a doctor but i think what happens if you dont get anti d after a bleed your blood somehow crosses to the babies and destroys its blood cells - something like that, your doctor can inform you better then me.

both my dd's are +, and have had no probs plus had a big bleed in this pg, got the anti d and had a test a few days later and all was fine.

if your worried im sure your doctor can reasure you.

congratulations and best of luck

I am rh negative also and have had four children, the only needles that i had to have was after they were born and their blood group checked. If they were positive (which 2 of them were) then i was given the anti-d injection. I have only heard recently that woman are given an injection if they had bleeding thru the pregnancy but i have never been advised of this with any of mine. I would definately speak to your gp about it just to make sure of what to do....good luck

Thank You Mum To Four,
That is very informative stuff.
So I won't stress too much. Get DH's blood checked soon. And brace myself for these Anti D shots at 28 weeks. Easy.
It seems it's better to be safe when it comes to this.
We've waited so long to get the little bean in there, we got to look after it!!
