Hi there- we actually use our electric frypan as much as our oven! Some of my favourites are fritters, risottos, pan fried fish, sauteed summer vegies (we have lots of squash atm!) omelettes, fresh tomato pasta sauce... the list is endless.
I suppose I use it so much because a)it's non stick and b)it's huge!
TBH I use our crockpot for roasts these days - because it's so low maintenance while cooking

yea its quite nice for roasts & stirfries - can you cook a casserole in it or bake a pie or something?
im worried about the bottom of the pie burning... im hanging to make some cupcakes too :)
u should try pick up a litle combi oven i think theyre called. theyre about as big as a microwave and u use the same as an oven :) btw u can cook cakes and pasta bakes etc in a slow cooker too

Yep casseroles are fine. Just have it on high to do the initial cooking (if you're browning meat, sautee'ing vegies etc) then turn it down to simmer to cook. It's hard to give comparison times for cooking in the frypan v. cooking in the oven, they're all so different, you might have to experiment with times. It is a good idea to stir every 20mins-half hour or so.

I cooked silverside in mine :) i just cut the peice in half so it was covered with water and cooked it as usual, i was just thinking though do you have a gas bottle? get one of those cheap camping gas stoves they are around $40 i think and you have two gas hotplates you could use. Otherwise the bbq is ok for boiling stuff too if you need too just put your pan on the grill part
I cook all sorts of stuff in mine though its just easier and less washing up
fried rice, casseroles, stroganoff, roasts, stir fries, vegie bakes(time and temp you have to work out but its easy just go slowly) eggs (poached or freid or scrambled) hot dogs (water in there to boil) baked beans spagetti, lasagne, etc
YOu can do quiet a few things that you never thought that you could do :) Hope you get your oven sorted soon

I use my electric frypan more since we bought our house as the oven is about 25 years old and the door doesn't close properly (which is great in winter but not so great in summer - not to mention the power bills).
So here are a few of my favourites:-
Braised Steak & onions
Beef stroganoff
grilled fish / chicken
chicken schnitzels / parmagianas
DH has done potato bake in the frypan before too - just slice the potatoes as normal then microwave them in water for about 8-10 mins then assemble the slices in the pan, pour over cream/garlic/frenchonion soup mix and top with cheese. Put the lid on and simmer over low heat for long enough that the cheese melts - keep and eye on it though cause if it's too hot you will burn the bum.
if you are after pies etc, $20 will get you a little pie maker, these are brilliant. We cook quiches in them too. It's great cause you can do individual serves instead of a big pie and the filling ingredients are only limited by your imagination. We have apricot chicken pies, bacon, cheese & egg pies, spaghetti pies, satay chicken pies, etc.

Im in the same boat, my oven is broken and am in the middle of planning my kitchen reno so have been without an oven for what seems like a lifetime.
Do you have a BBQ with a hood on it? I use mine as an oven and do roasts, pizza's, steamed fish, I've even done mini muffins on it (you can tell I miss my oven ) - anything you do in the oven u can do on the BBQ so long as it has the hood.. Not to great on rainy days tho..lol
