Hey there

I had my weekly check up today.. am currently 37weeks preg with bub number one.
I was told last week by the midwife that because Im not a very big person, she could see us having maybe a 7 or 71/2 pound baby.

I went back today and saw dr and midwife who both examined me and now say bub is going to be a good size and be over the 8lb mark.

Im like a few others on here freaking out as both my husband and I were both 6 weeks premature and were both 7lb then so we would have been huge having gone full term.

The dr states at the moment gaging size of bubs head that he would let me go and deliver naturally but wants to do an internal exam next week to get a better assessment.

I haven't thought about c section but at least I can read up on it and get a little prepared but upon leaving my appt today I forgot to ask what happens when they do an internal..... Can anyone shed some light on what the dr is going to do and if its going to hurt at all and what if anything I can prepare myself for next week????

Thanks
A very worried first timer !!!!

Hi,

I too am 37 weeks pregant and had an internal yesterday so they could work where the baby's head was.

There is nothing to it. The Dr just inserts his fingers and has a bit of feel of the cervix and may feel you tummy at the same time. It took all of 1 minute at the most. It dosen't hurt at all, just a bit embarrasing but compared to what is about to happen with labour its nothing!!!

Good luck with everything!!! Not long to go now!!

Hi guys,
When i first went into hospital with early contractions the doc had a little feel about of my cervix and it was so painful, but that was nothing compared to birth :p . I must admit it is all a bit embarassing to start with but after you have your beautiful bub you have no shame :) . Just remeber they have seen it all before.

Good luck with your lil bubba, they are amzing little things

peace
