Hi Ladies,
Just needing a bit of help and guidance. Looking for a good Obstetrician in the Brisbane/ north brisbane area. I need to elect to have a C.Section (pelvis too small evidentally - Major dramas with first "natural" birth!). Can anyone recommend anyone? And also can any one help me out with the private/public issue. Is it much easier through the private hospitals regarding choosing a doctor and booking in for the C.Section? (Had first bub in Public)
Anyones experiences would greatly help.
Thanks heaps in advance,
Lisa:)

Hi Jadesmum,
I had to have a C section as well because of major complications. I have a really good ob but he is at Wesley hospital. He is booked out because he is a specialist in endometriosis (don't know how to spell it), fibroids and tumors. I just had to tell you that I paid through the nose because I had to have him and therefore had to go through the private system. My little boy came really premie as well and the same thing happened to my sister in law who went through the public system. I didn't get a room to stay in to visit my baby once I was discharged but my sister in law in the public hospital has everything she wanted, a private room with a tv that worked. She had a room set up for her when she left the hospital and was allowed to sleep there if she wanted and was close to her bub while she was in special care. I found that she was very happy with the public system. :ecomcity:

Hey Lisa,
I am expecting my first baby in 10 weeks and am really happy with my obs. I am a private patient and I have nothing to compare with. I know that my obs is happy to do c-sections. Don't know if this helps. He is based at the Mater Hopsital. Let me know if you want his details.

Hi Lisa,
I too had my 1st bub at the Wesley and had a fantastic OB. We'll be using him again.
But you need to book in pretty early to have a chance with them. Unless you've already been a patient and then you're pretty much in automatically:-)
Best of luck finding the Right One:-)

HI LISA
I had my little boy at the wesley 9 weeks ago and my ob Dr Nikki Whelan was fantastic. Nikki does quite a few ceasers. My sister inlaw used Dr David Hill and recommends him, he is quite relaxed. Both book out pretty quickly, so good luck in finding someone.

I went through north-west private hospital and one of their OB's and it was okay. Wouldn't go with the midwives again though, not pleasant. PM me if you want name/details. Dr. Christopher Price (I think that's his name) is great; heard lots of good stories, but it is difficult to get into him. From talking with other mums-to-be it's pretty much a case of whoever you can get in to I'm afraid. There's just not enough of them out there. It took me three goes, before I finally got into one.
Good luck though, hopefully you will have a better experience (might be different at this time of year too)

I hope you find someone. You will find that as you have had a ceaser, no one is going to mind if you choose to have another one, even in the public system. If you do go public you don't usually have the benefit of having continuous care, unless you see community midwives- who are great!
I'm sorry to hear that you had a hard time with your first birth, and I hope this birth brings some healing to you.

Hi Ladies, thanks for your replies (and encouragement!!!). Most appreciated. Am checking everything out. Am trying to find someone before I get pregnant again!!!! (might increase my chances of actually getting someone by the sounds of it!) lisa
If you choose to go public, you don't get a choice as to who your visits are with or who actually performs the c-section, you'll just get whoever is on shift at the time. That being said, you can choose to be a private patient in a public hospital, which I imagine would be considerably cheaper than going completely private.
