I have decided that starting a party plan business might be the easiest way to make some much needed extra cash, without having to worry about childcare fees, and working around my family. But I can't decide which one to go for! There are so many... I have narrowed it down to 3 -
1. Tupperware
2. Learning Ladder - Educational toys for children aged 0+
3. Nutrimetics - Beauty Products
I like these three as they are well known, and I really enjoy all of the products.
I just wanted to know if anyone of you have been or are a consultant with either of these companies and your opinions of how you fit it around your family, how much cash you made etc etc. And if you haven't been/arent a consultant which products would you most likely go for???
Thanks everyone!

Can I ask what you do at a party plan. Do you convince women to have a party and you do the demo or do you get women to come over to your place. Am looking at a company called One Group and they do what they call "home shopping" which to me is party plan. Would like to get involved but don't fancy inviting people to my place as its mid renos.

Yes it is miessence. I haven't tried their stuff yet. Not keen on the network marketing aspect...maybe a little further down the track.
Are you a purchaser or a executive or whatever you call them. If so do you do the home shopping stuff.
Harmony - I have pmed you :)

Learning Ladder is brillant - good comission and quality product!!!! Everyone has been to Nutrimetics and Tupperware parties and already knows the products - Learning ladder is always changing!!!!!
I'm a Tupperware lady and I LOVE it :smiliedance:
...only problem is I spend most on my earnings on all the new products
I did nutrimetics for a while, but there are NM consultants EVERYWHERE so it's hard to get ur business going. They do have training one night a week tho.
ATM I'm a consultant for a chocolate party plan. It's different and very successful as the company regulate how many consultants are in the area(I'm currently the only rep in WA, so it's pretty good) :)
Make sure u choose something that your REALLY love as it's hard to sell something that you aren't totally in love with!

What about Total Learning?

It is selling educational and fun books.
let me know if you have any Qs
Good luck with it. :yelclap:
I use to be a consultant for the body shop at home for over 3 years. I really enjoyed it and it is a great way to make some extra income. The only thing is you need to be aware of sales minimums they may have, whether there is a compulsory amount of parties you have to do each month to qualify for bonus's and rewards and if there is compulsory training commitments that have to be met. These are all good and help to grow your business but sometimes if you only want to bring in that extra $100 a week or you know you wont have the time to do all the other boits it can be a bit of a pain. I left the body shop and started my own Party plan business selling maternity , baby wear and childrnes wear that I buy from a supplier that buys overstocks and closeouts of target, kmart, myers and other stores like that. I find it great and I get all the profits. Good luck and I hope you enjoy whatever you decide to do.

i do nutrimetics, but as much as i loooooooove nm, i hate doing sales. so i mostly just sell to my family.
check out each companies commision rates. some (like tupperware) are a flat 30% (?) whereas nutrimetics is scaled - the more you sell, the more you earn with a bottom rate of 20% and a top rate of 50%.

The only thing I can recommend to you is, if you are interested in doing party plan, make a list of the companies that you are actually interested in and think you would be able to sell. Once you have done that, contact a consultant in your area and actually hold a party and ask lots of questions and actually see what's involved.
For a whole heap of ideas and suggestions on party plan, a great forum to visit is www.partyplan.com.au
You will also be able to ask if there are any consultants close to you.
Hope this helps. :fingerscrossed:

(My only connection with this company is as a satisfied customer)
You could try essential additions and be the bag lady lol
http://www.e-ssential.com.au/
They cover women's, kids, men's, travel and accessories,
considering how important the guilt trip is for party plan sales (have you EVER been able to get out of a Tupperware party without buying something, anything?) you should have a slightly wider market than make-up or Tupperware etc.
One pro would be the fact that It is a lot easier to sell a necessity I.E. the new school bag or a shaving kit for hubby to the 'just here to make up the numbers' guest than it is to sell another melon baller.
On the other hand, there are only so many bags a person will buy. unless you find yourself some tragic fashion chasers or party plan addicts, you will have less chance of building a strong return customer base. (your bread and butter through every slow period)
You would have the advantage of quality,
(in most cases) the items they sell are the exact same brands sold in David Jones and Myer. The only difference being the fact essential sells them at almost half the DJ's price.
I had a party for a friend 5-6 years ago, they had a much wider range than is shown on the website which i think is still the case. Sales were in the high $2000's not including late and outside orders, though it was a relatively new idea at the time so a little research to see how many direct competitors they have now would be a good idea.
The items i purchased then (some of which are still used daily) are in perfect condition. The kids items have not faded or torn and the leather wallets and handbags look as good as they did the day they arrived.
