My DD2 is 7 months and she still wakes appx 3-4 times very early morning (3 to 6amish) wanting booby! I bring her into bed with us and she will stay there till we get up. It doesn't bother me too much as I attach her and she eventually falls asleep on the boob then gets off when she's done.

I guess my main conern is will she form or has she already formed a habit of waking a few times, as in she's not necessarily hungry but just using the boob to resettle? Also will her feeding time/frequency change as she gets older? It would be nice to eventually get some unbroken sleep some day :fingerscrossed::D I had almost completely weaned DD1 off the breast when she was around this age, so can't really draw on my experience from that!

TIA

My first 2 fed like that but I really would prefer it that way then getting them upset and waking the house up.

DS finally stopped at 14mnths

Ds is 19 months and still wakes 2-3 times a night for a feed/comfort.

He slept all the way through from nb-6months though so i don't know what has changed,i guess as he got older her preferred feeding at night.

DD9 did that till she was 15 months it was only once though, dd3 did it every 3 hours :(

At the moment indie sleeps right through, well this is sleeping through to me i am preparing myself as i know that might change but generally she has her last feed at 8pm, dreamed feed at 11 then sleeps till 5-6am. She is alot different to my others though, more content and generally an easier baby so i am hoping she doesnt start waking at night LOL
Mind you she guzzles all day but i dont mind :)

I convinced Cobey to stop at 15 months.. I was 'over it' and working and I just couldn't keep up and cope with waking at least twice, often 3 times a night.

I convinced him by giving him a cup of water.. took him 3 nights to realise it wasn't worth it.

Abbey is 13 months old and is still waking at least two times a night. Luckily for me we took the side off her cot and attached it to the bed so she just comes over helps her self to some boob then crawls back and goes to sleep. Works for us but I really wish she only woke once a night.

14 months... she was still waking, but stopped wanting to feed, she just wanted cuddles (we co-sleep). She has her first 'morning' feed from around 4am.

Summer was doing this only up until a few weeks ago until she just suddenly stopped. I was over it waaaaay long ago but she just kept it up- and she's 3 in April.

Taliyah also does the same thing (still does) she is 15 months and is waking constantly for a feed, I don't think it's so much 'hunger' she wants it for though.

Cooper is still doing it and he is almost one. I was actually going to start a thread on this!!

He is still waking 3-4 times a night and its really starting to drain me! I was actually going to try the water thing that seekrit suggested. So i might give it a whirl tonight!

Still waiting.......16 month old and still waiting.....

Last few nights he's been up at 10pm, 1am and 5am. He's getting molars so he's not normally that bad but even when he's good he still wakes up once. So over it.

DS is just over 7 months and has just this last week started to sleep through most nights. :smiliedance:

He had done the occasional sleep through since around 4-5 months but now it's getting more consistent.

For us, sleeping through is a feed around 6 or 7 pm, a dreamfeed when I go to bed (usually around 9 or 10), and then sleeping through til around 6 or 7 am.

That said, after 5 straight nights of sleeping through, last night he wanted feeds at around 2am and 5am! Doh! I think it's because he didn't feed very well during the day yesterday, and possibly as it was quite warm here last night. Hopefully, that doesn't mean he'll now feed badly today leading to another wakeful night! I certainly got used to sleeping a full night in a hurry, so I hope it continues!

 might give this a try when she's a little older!

I feel so much better reading your posts, makes it feel all so normal!

How does the dreamfeed work? What are you supposed to do?

Thanks for all your replies :hugs:

Ds and dd stopped waking up for a feed at very similar time. Around 3.5 months old (he's now 19 months and dd is almost 4 months). They both go to bed between 7-7.30 until 6-7.30am.

I used to give them dreamfeed around 9pm. But one night I just thought I wouldn't wake them up and see what time they would wake up for a feed. But they didn't and have been sleeping through ever since. We are very lucky, indeed

18 months and no sign of it.

I confess that I am a bit of an Enabler though. I lay there and miss him so bad that as soon as he lets out the slightest sound I get him out of the cot and then he stays in our bed.

I whinge about my lack of sleep but I know I am part of the problem :o

That's funny, Shed... but totally understandable! (That's why we co-sleep 100% now, lol).

12 months and still waiting.....but we co-sleep and I am a SAHM so it's no drama. On a good night DS only wakes once, but most of the time it's at least twice, if not three or four.

I feel better reading the other posts, I know I'm not alone and this will end some day....just don't know when. I'm not going to pressure DS, and besides, I often get up for a drink of water so why shouldn't DS have a drink too?

What I do is let him suck for however long at night unless iam awake. In that case I take him off when the sucking dies down & quickly give him a dummy if he trys to get back on, but normally he doesnt notice and comes off happily.

Dream feeds also work for me, dream feeds are where you feed bub while there are alseep so they dont have to wake up.

I dont mind feeding him at night, do you often wake up in the morning and your stomach is empty so empty you feel sick and you know eating will get rid of it? Well I figure since he isnt eating much and breastmilk is easliy digested his belly must get pretty empty over night.YKWIM
