Hi, my son is 15 weeks old and today I've noticed that his cheeks have been red. I've checked his temp, all normal, his not upset, still feeding and still his happy little self. Lately he has been chewing on his hands constantly and really getting them in there and i bought him a teething ring and he just loves it in his mouth. He has also been drooling alot. I know it is normal for babies to put their hands in their mouths and suck and chew on them, but could this be the beginning of teething? Im just a bit concerned about the red cheeks! Any ideas would be appreciated, thank you!!

It is sooo hard to tell when little ones are teething, when my DS was that age he had all the signs as well, red cheeks, drooling, chewing on everything, but he didn't sprout his first tooth until 7(ish) months!! As you have said it is normal for babies to explore everthing with there mouth, and they do of course drool non stop so it may be normal develope. But his teeth could be moving around in his gums which they do quite a bit before they pop up! The only way we could tell if DS was teething is if he is extremely cranky and he always stays awake for 1 or 2 whole nights (lovely...) even then you can't be sure until you see the little buggers! I guess just keep an eye on him, put his teething rings in the fridge for him, offer him a cold wet face washer to chew on, and if he does seem irritable, there are plenty of natural remedies at the chemist which will help (Brauers teething relief, teething gel, Hylands tablets etc.) Goodluck with it all!!

Thanx Harmony!! I will try those natural remedies if he starts to get cranky!!!
I know this is gross, but important information now ;) do his poos smell acidy- if they do... i reckon we have teeth on the way- wash your hands wel and run a finger along his gums.. you can nearly always feel them ;)
...so did his cousin. If he starts to get irritable and it affects his sleep you might want to try chamomile in a homeopathic form. Its safe for babies.
