Im just curious as to what everyone has already invested in so far in prep for the babys arrival?? Im not sure what I should buy now and what can wait a bit longer and for those experienced Mums what they think we should just give a miss...

Here's my list for starters -
Bassinet/cot and bedding
car seat
pram
bath
nappy bucket
change table (not a neccessity, just easier)
Bonds jumpsuits (they're fantastic for winter bubs and cheap)
singlets
warm hat
nappies, wipes etc. (good to stock up on while they're on special)
Hmmm, can't think what else just yet.
Regarding clothes - I'm not going to go overboard because they grow so quickly and in the first few weeks fiddly stuff is just a pain, so I always go the jumpsuits and will purchase some 4x0's and some 3x0's to start. That way I'll be able to buy the cuter stuff when I know the exact size I need.
Having said all that I'm still to make a purchase!
Goodluck :)

cloth nappies - great for spew and clean ups!
baby soap (liquid), shampoo, cotton tips and buds, baby oil, moisturiser
2 sets of cot sheets (flannel great!)
soft baby blankets and wraps (no need for big quilts!)
and I agree with the baby bonds one piece suits - easy!
cardigans, singlets, booties, warm beanie
nappy bag with lots of pockets
and (just in case) a bottle or 2 with teats
nappies and wipes
washers
bath or tub or container or use the sink!!

Adele!!! You must have heaps of fun going over all the stuff you have!
You'd think after 3 kids I'd have a few things - All I've got is a cot that was purchased new for my 5 year old when he was a baby and a small layby at Target from their sale a couple of weeks ago!
It seems like ages to go but I just know it's going to creep up on me because I have soooo much to buy and will probably layby most of it.....eeek.
At least I've settled with what pram I want, all I have to do now is save the $$$
Oh yeah, and we need a car seat.
Two actually. One new and one secondhand probably

This isn't a necessity but it was my best purchase by far. I loved my baby bjorn sling....I never used to take the pram anywhere just the sling........so much easier when they are little. The baby loves to be close to mum and you still have both arms free..........
i had a lot of stuff given to me too but what i ended up with was
a cot
change table (metal frame and fabric sling)
portacot (i wouldn't live without one)
sheets and blankets
baby bath (so get some baby wash i love the coles homebrand one it smells lovely)
towels and washers
car seat (convertable is cheapest but you can use a capsule then get a normal seat later when they can sit up)
0000 jumpsuits (only get a couple)
000 jumpsuits (need a few more of those)
socks and hats and maybe mittens
cloth nappies at least 12 (even if you just use them as burp cloths)
wipes and disposable nappies (heaps and heaps you just go through so many)
i think the only thing besides some clothes that i brought before dd was born was my lovely pram.
i throughly recommend you get a decent maternity bra x2 and i brough some really great breastfeeding tops :smiliedance: that are great during pregnancy too and are long enough to cover you tummy after. go to www.glamourmom.com (please enter this code into the GM code box BEPE52  thanks)
you can still wear the tops after you finish feding too as they don't look like breastfeeding tops. (just don't get the white one unless you plan on wearing it underneath something as it can go seethrough)

A few things that I could not have lived without when DD came along include :
- A bassinette..we would not have purchased one, but someone lent us one and it was a godsend...DD was way too small for her cot and it was cold, the basinette was much more snug for her.
- I hate to say it...but Breast Feeding can be tricky and does not always go to plan...thank goodness for my MIL who suggested that before DD we get one bottle, 2 teats and some sachets of formula (just in case) Get a larger standard sized bottle, then you can always use it later for water etc before baby is trained to a cup.
- Bonds wondersuits and heaps of them..some in 0000 and some in 000. 000 was rediculously large for DD when she was born.
- DD's bubba sling, she was so small and really freaked out in the pram for the first few months, she preferred to be close to me...she spent many blissful hours snug in her sling when we went shopping or just cooking dinner.
Thats all I can think of for now....hope this helps!! Boy could I have used some help with what to get before DD came along. I am not as worried about it this time and feel that I can really relax and just enjoy being pregnant.

Just in case anyone is interested, Toys R Us have Kapootchi baby bags (the black and blue/red backpack or satcual or bowling bag style) on a 50% off sale at the moment. Also iffanyone is looking at MaClaren strollers (can't speak more highly about the one we have!) they are bringing out new colours in the Techno Classic and Techno XT styles, so the old colours (which are much much nicer) are 300ish, rather than 400ish at David Jones

Thanks Amanda!!!
I actually saw the Kapoochi nappy bags on Tuesday and was really impressed with those prices too :D I did have a look but couldn't see the one that I spotted at David Jones, it had the insulated bottle pockets on the side but they weren't the internal zipper ones....oh well. Not sure exactly what I want yet anyway.
I love the Maclaren strollers....when bub is bigger (I'm getting an MBU elite with carrycot to start) then I'll get a Maclaren for shopping etc. I love the Quest Mod scarlet bubbles, I hope they bring that out here! :)

I think thats everthing if it changes will edit for ya!!! Hope Ive helped!!
I had all the stuff I needed by the time Liv came along but the things I used most were our pram & sling, I also invested in a bassinette even though I hadn't planned on it, it was much nicer having Liv in the room with us & I was able to wheel her around during the day so she was always close.
Things I wish I hadn't bought were 0000 clothing, Liv was too long for them at birth so it was a waste of money, also a Avent bottle & food warmer I was a sucker the day I bought that, I never used I don't even think I took it out of the box.
Good luck holding yourself back from buying lots of stuff for your bub, I couldn't help it & actually still can't :D

Things you might be able to do without:
Baby bath - if you have a nice laundry, use the tub. It's easier.
Embroided face washers and towels - soft and fluffy is better, the other ones look cute but the back of the embroidery is often quite harsh and scratchy.
Booties - I found they ALWAYS fell off after about 2 minutes.
