View Full Version : Does anyone know where I put the receipt???
ok .. just a little rant!!
In Nov 2005 .. we were given a gift .. a truly wonderful incredible gift ...
now the gift is 27 months old - and I think its faulty ... something is DEFINITELY going wrong ..
dont get me wrong .. I dont expect to be given a complete replacement, or to be able to return the gift .. but since we were given a new (second) gift in January .. the original gift (lets refer to it as .. umm .. Jack) .. has developed new "glitches"..
The gift never came with instructions .. but we have done what WE think is right .. but I'm almost SURE it came with a warrently .. I cant find it!!
help!! where do I go to get replacement parts?? there are only a few bits broken .. I wrote a list here somewhere *pulls books and general mess apart to find the back of an envelope .. with list* .. ok .. so the broken parts are
*volume
*patience
*sleep function
*ears (although funnily enough they function SOMETIMES .. like if I whisper chocolate ..)
* self -regulation function (like the ability to be gentle and control its own hands) ..
see - not MANY things broken .. and some days - they seem to function just fine .. but since those days are few and far between .. I would like those parts repaired as soon as possible..
so where the HECK is that receipt!!
xx
Jen
Ah yes... the second baby arrives first baby goes faulty story...
Your not alone there Jen thats for sure !
Not much advice from me other than to be veeery patient with Jack, the only world he ever knew has just been turned upside down.
It will pass and it WILL get easier, I promise.....
In the meantime
*deeeeeep breath*
and here are some hugs
:hugs:
I feel for you, but I'm pretty sure the warranty for these things is only good for a half a year or so - by the time you get the energy up to go and get them exchanged or repaired, the warranty has run out ;)
I can only suggest waiting - often these things magically fix themselves if you wait a few months. Just don't try to bang it on the side like you do to other broken appliances - this is not recommended! If only it were possible to pack them away for awhile :D

 I cant sympathise, but I can imagine  Gwen seems to have all those faults from the start... Maybe I got a dud, and should have asked for a warranty repair right away...:p

Oh nooooooo, you don't want to return it  they are very hard to get back into the original packaging!:p
I think its a case of 'buyer beware'
gorgeous look at, lovely to hold, but if you break it, consider it sold.

Oh I hear you. Mine seems to be making this constant high pitched whining noise. When are they going to make these things with a mute button or an off switch?

 OMG Jen, you crack me up.
We're having similar issues here, though the "Patience" and "Listening" functions on my first edition have always been broken anyway. We're currently trying to rewrite the motor-control software - it's stuck in top gear, 4WD-must-climb-everything mode.
ROFLMAO your so funny lol

Now you see - I got fooled into upselling
My first model was so easy to maintain that I thought that I was on a winner. The DS model was nearly perfect.
So I thought I'd get another one - well I ended up getting a malfunctioning unit that was not campatable to the DS unit.
I even agreed to have a switch installed in me that the DD model keeps on flicking. The DS model rarely flicks the switch.
My MIL has discovered that she also cannot run the DD model.
Recently a cousin who happily runs 3 units asked me if I wanted a third unit. MOTH replied that he thinjks that really only younger parents should go for the latest models.
*sigh* The canine and feline models where a lot easier.

But I didn't break it - it never functioned properly from the start!
I also missed the bit that your must return it in it's original packaging - I didn't keep the packaging!
haha in light of the situation (which I can understand... minus receiving a new gift) that was a wonderful read and a good laugh!!! You sure have a way with words!!
If you can find your receipt it might give me an idea to where mine is.... as mine has gone a bit dodgy all of a sudden as well... in much the same areas as yours, as well as a few more!!! Heaven help me if I was still receiving another new gift soon. This mummy would have to be sent to a white padded room I think!!
All I can suggest is deep breaths and count to ten..... s.l.o.w.l.y. :p
:D thanks for all the replies ladies .. AND all the giggles
DH had a thought earlier tonight - we now think that the damn store used those receipts that FADE .. you know .. you put the paper somewhere safe .. and when you look for it 12 months or more later it just looks like faded black dots on white paper .. sigh ..
glad to hear that I'm not the ONLY one tearing my hair out - Jack has struggled with the arrival of Alex .. and its not jealousy .. he ADORES Alex .. he just .. well .. has no patience with us .. hopefully things will improve soon .. (heck .. they HAVE to .. dont they??)

oh no - don't tell me things like that jen - my 2nd edition is due in a few weeks and i don't really want my 1st edition to be broken.
oh well looks like i will just have to do my best with the first one then. :fingerscrossed: she will have a bit more patience than jack does.

relaaaaaaax. My first model is still functioning really well - the ears are a bit dodgy - but the rest is really good.
It was my 2nd unit that malfunction from arrival

oh darn don't tell me the 2nd one was defective. i was kinda hoping for a good one this time around too.:(
In my case, the first edition never really worked, it seemed to be broken from the beginning but it def. got worse, once the second edition arrived.
After a while, some of the broken parts, repaired them selfs but many of them are still not working properly..
my second edition doesn't seem to be too bad, let's hope it stays that way and nothing gets broken..

Well the radar function on my new unit is working just fine at the moment :hissy: I haven't been able to get more than 2 feet away today without the "alarm" going off!

why DO they have such over-active LOUD alarms .. ??
surely there is a remote you can purchase - to at LEAST change the alarm volume or maybe make it a funky noise - instead of that waaa waaa waaa waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa ???
xx
Jen
I think the noise that goes "Ding Ding.... Ding Ding..." like when you leave your lights on in the car would be much more pleasant.
My new model is fantastic :angel:and my first one is still pretty good most of the time, but gosh there are days when I wish I had a MUTE button!!
Yes I have noticed that when a new model comes in, the first one does get very inpatient with the owners but simply adores the new model!!

When you find the button that changes the alarm or you find the mute button PLEASE tell me where it is as my first unit is permanently stuck on loud and :ecomcity:.

its not that we adore it MORE than the first model .. but the SECOND model does'nt move .. or yell at us .. sigh ..
the SECOND model does what its told (with the exception of sleep sometimes ) - the FIRST model simply refuses to sleep .. AND is non-compliant!!
sooo frustrating!!
