I completely understand that fat feet and ankles are just another perk to go with pregnancy but I was wondering if anyone has any remedies??
Perth has just gone through the hottest january on record and my feet are taking the brunt of it. I have tried TEDS (comprssion socks), buckets of iced water and placing them nice and high but nothing s really helping.

I know this sounds bad, but the pain is getting in the way of m serious nesting compulsion and i would love to be able to get up and do more.

arrr, help!

Just watch it, because oedema can be a bad sign IF there are other symptoms. Are you having headaches too? When is your next ante-natal appointment, just make sure you mention it there.

Everything I was going to suggest, you've already tried . And I misread your last sentence, I thought you said "serious RESTING compulsion" and was going to say that I have that compulsion too

Hope you get some relief soon. How about massage? With a body scrubbing brush, or loofah? Or with some nice massage oil, by an obliging person? At least that would help you relax and it should feel nice (although if you're in pain, maybe touching your feet would worsen it). Hope it goes away soon.

Do you know what I loved the feeling of when my feet were swollen, a massage with that peppermint foot stuff...

Ohhhhhhhhhh sooo good!

Unimum - We're due about the same time so I can understand how you are feeling. I used to have ankles once, now they are just like fat sausages from the knees down!! Have you found they are a little better today after the slightly cooler temp yesterday?

Cant help with the remedies as I've tried everything as well but mine seem to be slightly better after yesterday. I did find elevating them higher than my body sometimes helped a little.

The forecast is for the next week to be under 30 so hopefully you'll find them a bit better for you. As the Queen said, just keep an eye on your BP and proteins as sometimes swelling can indicate Pre-Eclampsia. Hope you get some relief over the weekend!

Have you got a bubbling vibrating foot spa?? I found it helped fluid because it got the circulation going. Massages of any sorts. Shaving my legs would even help. Watermelon in mass amounts or celery.

After Ds was born my feet were that swollen I couldnt wear shoes. My Gram died the same week and I bound my feet with bandages for 2 days and had them up so I could wear shoes.... :o And I found that high heels were better for the swelling than flats :o

You could get stocking that are heavier callled sigvairs that would stop the swelling but would be hot.

Maybe a trip to the physio for some work on those collapsed arches some exercises or foot strapping or temporary orthortics would give you some relief.

my feet and ankles were terrible with both my kids too, they were so sore and none of my shoes fitted me. I found the only think that relieved it (nothing actually took it away) was a massage with oil from DH ahhh, it was heavenly :cloud9:

There is a horrid tea, it's either Dandelion Root Tea or Dandelion Leaf Tea. Can't remember which sorry :o
