Just curious to see how everyones premmies went developmentally from birth to school age.

DS was 9 weeks premature and at 10 months started showing signs of a developmental delay.. at 2 years he was formally diagnosed as Developmentally Delayed... he was 24 months and assessed at the level of a 14-16 month old but over the next 12 months with a lot of hard work he caught up remarkably and at 3 years old was assessed in almost every regard as 'up to date' for a 3 year old. A couple of things he was still slightly behind, and another couple he was actually assessed as 'advanced' for a 3 year old... so those 12 months did hima world of good.

He rolled one way around 7 months and both ways by 9 months. Crawled just before 11 months and walked JUST before 18 months. He didnt really talk until he turned 2 but now he's 3 he doesn't stop talking and singing all day long! He only mastered walking up and down stairs around his 3rd birthday but the paed put that more down to his height (he's 87cm now and almost 3.5)

So just curious to see how other premmies went developmentally and if anyone else had issues like we did as I know they're all different and some do brilliantly straight away, others take a wihle to catch up and others are always a little bit 'behind' for there age (but perfect for them of course :))

Just as a little comparison DD was only 5 weeks early but you would never have known it. Developmentally shes perfectly on track and has been since birth which I find amazing!

My DD was 7weeks premmie, she wieghed 1.4kgs, she was in hospital for 3-4weeks, and she is now 18months.
I always feel they will walk talk etc when they are ready.

She got teeth at 3-4months, full set of teeth now.
sat up at 6months
walked at 9months

Now at 18mths she is tall and skinny, eats heaps all day and weighs almost 10kg.
I feel in those area she was up with non prems of her age if not before most.

But she is still speaking jiberish with a few words out, and unless its something she can hold in her hand she wont feed herself only play and make a mess.

I dont know what age toilet training should start, but I tried last week and she is scared of the toilet and pottie.

In all though I am very proud to see how far she has come from that tiny baby she was, it was awful and I hope I never have to do it again.
