Hello all - again

wow, I'm on a roll tonight....

anyway, I was wondering if anyone else comes across the issue, that when giving Nurofen to Bub it actual makes them hyper?? Not hyper as in jumping up and down like crazy, just the kind of being more awake and energetic. We noticed this now for the last few times, since we give DS the Nurofen only at night (and only when needed), that he seems to get another wake up call and is fully awake. Is this just happening for the fact that the Nurofen does take the edge of the pain or ....?????

Any advice ?

Yep I can't give my kids nurofen.Must be more sugar in it?? Anyway isn't ibuprofen an anti inflammatory? I know panadol is better for reducing temperature than nurofen.

I find Nurofen fantastic for bringing down fever - bubs was getting up to 40 degree temps with an ear infection, he would projectile vomit with Panadol so we had Nurofen which he didn't mind.

He always seemed happier after it - maybe there is sugar in it, I'm not sure.
How is your bubs feeling ?

Hmmm, I haven't experience this since I have only given Nurofen once. ( Nurofen didn't reduce my DD fever either).

Panadol works very well, though.

I used Nurofen - on advise from chemist for teething and found out the hard way  that bub's can't handle the colouring in Nurofen (hypo) or Panadol (yucky nappies) ... Maybe it is that?

I know now to ask for colour free!!!

Hope this helps

I have an allergy to Nurofen (also disprin and asprin) which has this exact effect. I go all high (like i have had a huge drug binge) and start hallucinating (sp?). I get all jittery and end up being awake for about 2-3 days straight.

Not a severe allergy but i find it is best to stay clear of it. I have not been game to give it to my DD incase she has a similar reaction (highly unlikely but atm the panadol seems to be all that we have needed).

Hope your son is feeling better soon.

Janet.
