When bubs is feeding, this happens on the one same side only, sometimes when bubs comes off the breast, she is desperately gasping for air and it frightens the hell out of me.

Could I be doing something wrong???

Is your boob blocking bubs nose in any way?

Do you have big boobs?

I can imagine the fright it must give you, you poor thing.

The fact that it is only happening on one side might suggest a positioning problem. I would check to make sure that her nose isn't squashed into your bosom when she is attached on that side- if she is feeding and cannot breathe through her nose, this might make her gasp for air.

This is all I can think of - hopefully some other mums might have more advice for you.

I'd say the problem is that your milk is flowing too fast for her to keep up.

My little bloke is having similar problems. I tend to slouch in the chair when I feel the let down, that way it runs a bit more slowly, and he can manage it better.

It does sound like the milk letting down too fast like Aardvark said. I know with me its happened a bit (especially on the left boob)- Lying back does help I find when I feed EJ lying in bed sometimes theres no problem as gravity helps slow the flow. Ive found now i can tell when she got/getting too much milk and will remove the nipple so she has a chance to swallow whats in her mouth. You could also try positing bubs above the nipple a bit (nipple ends up angled up a little ) I believe this helps also to slow the flow as its not direclty straight

Some positions/Info in here on it...
