Hi just wondering if anyone can share experiences they may have had. I have a 15 month old daughter and we are trying for our second. I had my period in mid January and then Feb 20th and have not had one since so it's now nearly 2 months overdue. My period have always been irregular but never this far apart. I've had all the usual signs of pregnancy but have done probably around 15 :( pregnancy test (all different kinds) and they have all been neg. I've been to the doctor and she said it must just be my cycle.
I was reading another thread and one lady was saying her hgc hormones didn't register until 4 months pregers. How early will it show on a blood test though and can I request that my doctor do one.
I'm so confused, sad angry and sick to death of the false hope because I haven't got my period. Please can anyone help?!!

Hi,

Don't know how much help I will be. I was always under the assumption that you could go to your doctor and tell them you thought you were pregnant and that you'd like a blood test?? I'm not sure. I've had 2 doctors and my second doctor would never do anything for me. ie, i went to him after a miscarriage about 4 months after it happened cause I wasn't coping with life and he just told me I was upset and to go have another baby. I am now back to seeing the first doctor.
So maybe you could try and ask your doctor straight out???

I'm sorry I haven't been much help. I hope you find the answer your looking for soon. Keep us posted on your results.

You should certainly be able to insist that your doctor arrange for a blood test. Or if you're that far along even an ultrasound. If he/she won't arrange it then find another doctor who will.

I'm not saying to lie to a doctor to get tests done, but there are obviously certain medications you shouldn't be taking if you're pregnant. I would think that any doctor who is presented with your symptoms and a question about medications, and who refuses to follow up on whether you might be pregnant is not worth continuing to see. I had to travel to a malaria prone area when I was only 5 wks preg and if my dr hadnt' believed me when I said I was pregnant I would have ended up on anti-malaria drugs that could have seriously damaged my daughter.

Good luck,
Martha

You can request a blood test from your doctor to confirm whether or not you are pregnant, as MarthaM said if your doctor won't do it then find one that will.

My neice had the same problem when she was pregnant with her first and they kept telling her she wasn't pregnant, even both her blood test came back negative so her doctor who thought she was also pregnant (all the symptoms) sent her for an ultrasound and she was nearly 6 months pregnant, so those tests although are pretty well accurate aren't always 100% accurate.

Probably not much help and not wanting to give false hope as this may not be the case but push it until you know for definate, that's what the doctors are there for and let them know it. Good Luck hope all turns out well for you :)

Thanks everyone for your advice. I did another test yesterday thinking that if it too eas negative I would be off to the doctors to demand and ultrasound or a blood test. As luck would have it though, it turns out that I am now pregnant :) I don't yet know how far along but we'll soon find out. Off to the doctors today. Thanks again
