my dp has just started working away again, hasnt for nearly 2 years and i cant sleep. i stay up til my brain cant work anymore then crash and only getting about 5 hours a night.
does anyone else have problems sleeping??
i must admit im a bit of a chicken and i get scared sometimes:o so that keeps me up a bit aswell, we have a good dog that would bark at anything intruding but i still stay up way too late, as you can tell from the time of this post:rolleyes:.
well im gonna go try to sleep now:wave:
any advice would be appreciated
why is it that you can't sleep? Is it because you're worried about being alone at night or because you can't shut down or you miss your dp?
I've had problems with all of these, try old methods of trying to get to sleep - long hot bath, warm milk and honey or cameolmile (sp) tea 1/2 or so before bed.
If you have a cordless phone or a mobile sit it next to your side of the bed so that if anything does go wrong, you can call someone straight away.
Also, depending on how much you want to spend for peice of mind, you can get outside night vision camera kits for around $250. That includes 2 wireless cameras and a reciever that you plug into the telly - you just have to plug the cameras in somewhere for power or use a 9v battery. PM me if you want more details - although if you have a big dog, it may not be something that you're overly worried about.
Take care and good luck with the
I sleep better when DH is away, LOL. No need to share the bed, no snoring or DH coming to bed late (9/10 times involves kicking the bedroom door), the list goes on.
A phone beside the bed was a good suggestion. I check all the doors before going to bed, and know that our dog would bark if anyone was around (not that they'd survive climbing into the back yard).
:hugs: hope you start to relax with the situation soon.

I totally agree!! Well after the first few nights anyway...
My Dp works away every few weeks, for 2 weeks at a time so I get used to it... sleep really well for a week and a half... then sleep badly for the first few nights he's back. Its a nasty cycle.
I found it really hard the first few week we live in the bush and the noises were really freaky, I almost bought another dog.... I ended up letting my 3 year old sellp in my bed.... but now regret that one i can't get him out even when DH is home.
The first night my man was away i had 2 tassie devils start fighting just outside my window it really freaked me out and i could't get in touch with DH but it's settled down now.
I still can't get more that an hours sleep at a time though cause the kids are always waking up asking for daddy

Hey there, probably a bit late for a response but try leaving something on ... I have gotten used to leaving the fan on. The sound of that just buffers little noises that might unsettle me. Yes the kids do end up in bed with me and have to agree now I can't stop them..but anyway. Now coming into winter (no need for fan) I might try to leave the tv on very softly or a fan in the next room .. I also keep the house keys and car keys in my beside table along with my mobile phone. I don't know anythings worth a try .. good luck

I don't sleep because I find once i get to bed thats the first time all day that I've actually had a chance to think. I'm going to take some of these suggestions and hopefully I'll start getting more sleep.
