Not sure if this should be here or the birthday section.

My kids aren't having a b'day party this year so I thought I'd surprise them with a spongebob squarepants (they both love him) mini family party. My grandparents will be here so I want to make a nice meal for them but something fun for the kids. It will be afternoon tea and dinner. So I need some help thinking of yellow foods or any other clever ideas you have that would fit the spongebob theme.

I've thought of corn and pineapple.

For those who haven't seen it:
He's a yellow sponge who lives in a pineapple in the ocean in a place called bikini bottom. His friend Patrick is a starfish. He works at 'the crusty crab' flipping crabby patties.
That's all I know, hope it helps inspire some ideas.

TIA

bananas, cheese, crackers, maybe a lemon sponge cake? Or something in starfish shapes for patrick? Starfruit if it's in season - it's yellow and star shaped :p

Good luck

Mini quiches? Just punch out round shapes from slices of bread with a glass. Press into a cupcake tin. Beat some eggs and small amount of milk. Fill cases with whatever you like- bacon, tomato, corn, ham, spring onions etc etc. and pour egg mixture over. Bake in mod-hot oven till set.

Mango yoghurt smoothies to drink
Corn chips and corn relish salsa made with yellow tomatoes.
Ritz and french onion dip coloured with tumeric.
Curried cauliflower cheese
Hommus

Lots of yellow sweets and lollies (sherbet lemons, bananas, yellow snakes and jubes etc)

Baked polenta. You could cut the kids into shapes and decorate them, & just plain for adults.

Wow, now I have too many ideas to choose from. Thanks so much for all the great ideas. I can see this "small" dinner getting out of control.

My son's 3rd birthday was a spongebob theme. This is what I served up:

krabby patties (hamburgers with cheese)
squidward dogs (hotdogs)
fish-shaped fish nuggets
oven fries
seaweed juice (green cordial with mineral water)
patrick stars (star-shaped cookies with pink icing)
jelly fish (pink jelly molds with pink snake tentacles)
and of course a spongebob cake

Hope you have a nice party.
