metformin and diet

I started taking metformin a month ago and have all the expected side effects. I'm those people who have taken metformin KWIM.

I was wondering for those people who take this what diet changes did you make that were successful for reducing side effects. Stomach cramps, nausea etc.

Hi, I found nothing helped me with all the side effects.

Did you start on 1/2 a tablet once a day and work up to the full dose? We (Dr and me) tried everything. Even staying on a small dose for a while but it just didn't work. I couldn't get past 1/2 a tablet 3x a day and even then I was really sick with nausea, diahrea and cramps.

I ended up going on Diabex which is the slow release version. I'm only on 2 at night but I have no side effects at all!
