hi,

DD is 28 months old and we are looking around for a booster seat for her as she is growing too tall for her current baby seat.

I was wondering what sort of booster seat you had and roughly how much it cost.

many thanks in advance for your input.

Definitely go the Safe N Sound Maxi Rider. Usually just under $300 and they can stay in it til they are almost 30kgs with a harness . .safest on the market

DD has a maxi rider II

there are a few different convertible boosters out there that you could look at that go from 8kg

maxi rider II (safe n sound)
explorer (safe n sound)
secure veneto/racing kid (infa)
senator (hipod)

i personally don't like the hipod one, and haven't seen the infa one but i do like the brand.
the explorer and maxi are almost the same but the explorer scored best out of the two of them for safety

We've got (and had) various booster seats in various cars (mine/DH/Mums/MIL etc)

Safe n Sound Maxi Rider (convertible booster)
paid $305 PLUS $60 for Protecta Harness which is required once bub is 18kg +

Safe n Sound Pegasus (foam booster with anti submarine crotch strap)
paid approx $120 for regular and $140 for deluxe model PLUS $40 for H harness

Safe n Sound Urban & Capri (foam boosters) paid approx $60 on average plus $40 for H harness

Infa Vario Kid (hard shell anchored booster)
paid $140 plus $60 for Protecta Harness

I'm happy at answer any questions about the above seats :)

My DD is 4.5 and still in a Maxi Rider, still in the 5pt harness too, she's not upgraded to the H harness yet, such a lightweight girl she is. I couldn't speak highly enough of the Maxi Rider, and have converted many people to them who simply had foam boosters.

A lady I know went to a baby shop in Cairns looking for a foam booster, asked about a $60 and the guy from that shop said that if she buys it then yes a harness can be used with it, but as of 2009 the foam boosters will no longer be available as they are not recommended and have not been recommended for a long time. It will be all the Maxi Rider/maxi rider II/explorer/secure veneto/senator type ones that are available for sale. The others will be unable to be used. I wish I knew where to get more information on that from. She bought the foam booster since they went up there on a train for holidays and forgot the car seat so it was only to be used while they were up there for a week. She wasn't going to buy a $360 seat just for that week and you can't hire them either, only the capsules.

thanks ladies for the replies,

Can you tell me which stores stock the Maxi Rider - I have looked at Toys R Us and Big W, but no luck.

hi,

thanks for who stocks them. Won't waste my time heading to the other stores this week and will look at the specialist stores.
