View Full Version : Poo Painting sorry TMI
I have started TT with DD and we are going well, just one MAJOR problem.
When she is in bed and poos, she takes her nappy off and paints with the poo.:barf:
I have tried to get her to poo before bed, I go in regularly and check on her, but it still happening:barf:
Any thoughts on how I can change fix this, I am so over washing linen and walls...:barf:

Have you tried putting the nappy on backwards, so it's harder for her to take off? It should still work the same... she just won't be able to take it off so easy.

oh my i feel your anger right now i posted here a few months ago about the same problem our oldest daughter has done this since around 6 mths old, she has just turned 3 and has only just seemedto cease doing this, we had it every night evry nap etc, we tried putting nappy on backwards worked great for about 3 days she worked out how to take off, we taped her nappy with thick tape she worked that out, my grandma made her a head to toe suit with only a button and zip high on the back she worked it out, and all i got told for almost 3 yrs was she will grow out of it well :fingerscrossed: i think she has finally stopped, we tried special diets like swapping her dinner and lunch meals round cutting out dairy the lot and nothing worked hang in there hope it gets better

I know what you mean. DD1 (22mths) has done this 3 times in the last 2 days. It's so disgusting and the worst part is when you vent to someone about it they just laugh.
I am just telling her that it is yukky, not funny. And that we put our poos in the toilet with our bum and that she has to tell mummy or daddy if she was poo in her bottom.
I am soooo ready for this stage to pass!!
BTW the backwards nappy is a good idea while it lasts. It gives you a nice few days break.

I am so glad I am not alone...I too have tried tape, backwards nappies, and even resorted to pull-ups, the biggest relief was pull-ups because it took her about 4 weeks to work those out, but now that she has worked them out I am at the end of my rope.
I hope it does not last a year:hissy:

Try that...thanks anyways...

So happy you feel that way, everyone keeps saying, my child NEVER did that or oh yuck or better still how funny:banghead: I so do not see the funny side of this...
I still am stuck what to do next? Its so hard?

as for the laughing it off when u tell someone i KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol lol lol if i had a dollar from everytime someone told me oh dont worry she will grow out of it i think id be mega rich by now :D
honestly i dont know how i can help u hun, it is an awful thing we tryed yelling screaming smacking, ignoring it , taking away toys the lot nothing has worked as i had i have not had to scrub walls for 3 weeks now!!!!!!:smiliedance: but i know how awful it is u should see her bedroom all she has in there is her bed, no clothes hanging in wardrobe no chest of drawers they sit out in my hall way because she covered the lot i once had to re wash everything hanging she pulled it all down, and 3 massive drawers of clothes and shoes coats etc, we removed them all about a year ago much easier lol she sleeps with just a sheet over the matress protector, and just a sheet covering her (we live in qld never cold ) because i was washing her quilt etc every day i honestly believe its a thing in her mind that makes her do it as she says when u go in there oh yucky poo poo mummy naughty eva and smacks herself on the hand but as she wasnt 5 as the doctor said we could not see a pyscologist or however u spell it i been to about 10 different doctors and they all said same thing she will grow out of it im sure its not that bad i used to leave there in tears over it :crying: cause everytime she did it took me an hour to scrub the walls. honestly i hope for ur sake she grows out of it real soon, but know u are not alone cause i honestly thought just my one was the only child to ever do this lol
I am glad I am not alone.
The smell,:barf:I can not get rid of it:barf:I tried everything, I too have scrubbed walls, washed bed linen carpets etc only to re-do it the next day.
I honestly think, she does not like a poo in her nappy (who would really) so she takes the nappy off and then the poo gets on her hands and she throws it out of the cot and wipes her hands on the walls to clean it...does that make sense?
I hope she stops soon, or she will be sleeping with a cork up her bottom:laughing:;)
ETA DP says the room does not smell, so it is just me:o I would not put her back in ther otherwise.
Oh Rowie I feel your pain.. Except DS1 used to do it when he was put in his room for time out as he knew as soon as I saw/smelt it I would let him out so I could clean up the mess... very very frustrating to say the least.. (he was fully out of nappies when he was doing it btw and he knew exactly what he was doing grrr)
No advice though sorry he kinda just stopped doing it one day..
My bestie still gives me heaps about 'poo painting' so the title of your thread caught my eye and cracked me up sorry :p
eta - I fabreezed like crazy to get rid of the smell ;)

well thats how it started with us eva was in a cot and after a few months of her doing it, the doc suggested putting her in a bed she was just over 12mths old then as he said perhaps she is getting bored if she wakes in the middle of night or something so get her a bed and put her favourite toys in the room, well all her lovely toys most had to be thrown out because she kept doing it lol and as she wasnt in cot had much more of a range to paint as such all four walls as high as she could reach the carpet etc, thats why i was saying about how her drawers etc sit in my hallway lol but i agree i think i can just permantly smell poo after almost 2 yrs of it now and hubby says the same ur crazy it doesnt smell but to me it still does sorry for all my blah blah blabbing im not helping much :ecomcity: just really want u to know u arent alone as i thought i was

Cool thanks....:yelclap:I have looked in Coles and Woollies, and Bunnings with no luck...maybe IGA is the way to go...
I've found IGA seem to have a lot of the things the bigger chains no longer stock. It's a shame if they have stopped making it though, I love the stuff.

Thanks..I also found some at my local Woollies, but it is in with bleach etc???
Yeah it was in my iga too which is weird, if anything I'd put it in with the air fresheners etc lol.

Yeah I thought it would be with the No-Vac etc, which I have been using since the loss of Febreeze LOL
We have been using bribery:devil6:to help with keeping nappy on, and it is helping....I will be glad well this PHASE is over:rolleyes:I am so over scrubbing walls....

hi there rowiechb linked me to this thread and Ive decided to give it a bump
I'm going through this poo painting at the moment and its so nice to know that I'm not a bad mother or that I'm not raising a excrement painting freak!
so any ideas on how to get this to stop or just support for us poo cleaning mums would be appreciated!
Try a 1 piece suit...or even a piece pair of swimming togs/bathers so they can't get to their nappy.
Oh how awful and I really don't have any suggestions as to how to stop this behaviour.
Have you tried putting plastic sheeting underneith the cot and moving it away from the wall? I know that sounds very obvious and you have probably done this, but if you haven't at least it might reduce the amount of cleaning you need to do.

I had DD's cot in the centre of her room, but soon discovered, walls are easier to clean than a cot:laughing::o
