make sure you are ovulating and that the sperm is fresh as it has a shelf life after it leaves the umm!! p***s and needs to be kept warm so use it asap!!..........goodluck

At home ovulation kits are really useful to work out when ovulation takes place.

At Coles they are about $20 for around 5.

They are well worth the investment.

yep definitly get an ovulation kit if you are unsure that way you are not wasting good sperm (am i allowed to say that on here LOL) and just make sure the "donor" is on call when you are ovulating. Goodluck with it all i find personally i am more the 14th day and i get ovulation pain.

:fingerscrossed: it works for you soon

I think at 14 weeks its too early, but at 18-20 weeks they should be able to tell the sex.

Hi There

I am doing EXACTLY the same thing as you! My chicki and I have had one cycle on Artificial Insemination at home ... just waiting to see if I have a bun in the oven now.

My recommendations are:

1. Use an ovulation calculator... Just google "Ovulation Calculator" and heaps will pop up and try to inseminate on the days it recommends
2. Get ovulation tests... I bought some online from Fertility Solutions
3. Use a fresh specimen jar each time your donor ejaculates (You can get them from a chemist for about $1 each) and a fresh 5ml needleless syringe (which will probably cost you about 20c each)
4. Get your partner to wear latex or similar gloves and cradle the sperm in the jar keeping it warm and wait until it liquifies before trying to suck it up into the syringe... Otherwise you will have some issues....5-10minutes is sufficient (It will go from a white colour to a gel like consistency)...but I don't recommend using it in your hair!
5. Make sure you have a towell ontop of a pillow (which you will need to prop your hips up on) in a comfortable area where you will lay down. Make sure it is a nice temperature.
6. If you can, try to acheive an orgasm within the 5-10 minutes that the sperm is liquefying. This can apparently help the tadpoles to the goal with the contractions of the uterus.
7. Suck up the sperm in the 5ml syringe... don't worry about the bubbles... but don't let your partner shoot air up there! It's not safe to do!
8. Guide the syringe in as far as it will go and get you partner to plunge the sperm inside you.... remember that you want the sperm to come into contact with your cervix (the round lump you can feel if you go exploring). Count 1 and 2 and when depositing the sperm... this is as close as your going to get to a "natural squirt" rythm.
9. Chill out for about half an hour with your hips tilted...by the way, head stands do not help in the process of conceiving.
10. Wait 10 days from the last insemination and test for pregnancy!

GOOD LUCK

If you have any more questions, let me know.
