Julie, that is just pathetic. For pete's sake, my GP types her own referral and prints it out for me during the consultation. I'd be really annoyed too. :hugs:

Julie I really really feel for you. Thats such S&^% treatment from them. Its not good enough. It sounds as if you feel a bit like me - that time is slipping by quickly already and the last thing you need is for someone to make you wait even longer. :hugs::hugs:I'd be fuming if I was you!!

Hi girls!

Welcome Nomsie & Aden2005!!

How is everyone going? I've still been feeling really sh!tty, I rang to try to get an appointment to see my Dr next week but he is now on holidays and the receptionist said that the only way I will get an appointment with the replacement Dr is to ring at 8am each morning and see if they can fit me in :hair: I want to go see someone because a) I've been feeling like my emotions are so out of control this week and I can't handle anything without crying, b) I want to ask to be tracked with blood tests so I don't have the stress of trying to figure out when I've O'd by myself and c) I want to ask why I am still ovulating so late even now I'm on clomid. So hopefully I can get in to see the replacement Dr, might even be good to have someone different look at my charts and give their opinion.

Katiesmum- that is shocking, surely they understand the urgency of this sort of thing :hugs:

I'm so happy for you! And great timing AF!

Hello girlies! Hope you're all doing well. Nothing too much to report for me. DH has his 'semen analysis' request from GP, just has to pluck up the courage to do it! I have my scan on Monday, then seeing GP again on Thurs, so will hopefully know if it's PCOS or not, so we can get on with something...

Has anyone temped without a cycle? I started about 10 days ago & it's been a bit all over the place, but I get excited when it dips!

08-02-2008, 08:39 PM
Hi Katherine - If my diagnosis is as predicted, I might be asking a few questions as well as bubfee. I really don't know much about PCOS, but hopefully I won't have to worry for too long.
Good luck to you & your partner - 2008 is going to be a wonderful year! :)

Hi Girls

well I have calmed down a bit :D. I suppose a few extra days in the whole scheme of things is not going to make a great deal of difference....especially as it is unlikely I am going to get to see the Dr before my next cycle starts anyway ....

just have to try naturally for a bit longer

Katherine - welcome and I hope that you get a BFP nice and soon ..... taking so long is really really hard.

Ains - get the tickers here (http://www.bubhub.com.au/tickers/)

Bubfee - so glad that you are happy with where you are. I was like that the first time around....happy to try naturally but to have IVF booked in ....and thats actually when I fell pg with Katie ....

Grace -

and Hi to everyone else ...... have a good weekend :D

Nomsie - - good to see you in here

Haylie - :hugs: hun. Hopefully you get in to see him and get to have blood tests ....

Hi everyone

Bubfee - most clinics only let you transfer 1 - though many will allow 2 for an FET cycle (frozen), if you are over 35 and/or have had at least 2 failed cycles. I too am a bit suprised that Ains has found one who will transfer 2 on her first go .....but that is great news for you Ains!!!

I am only having 1 transferred - but my FS wouldnt have let me have 2 even if I had wanted .....

Ains - have you had the demo of how to do the injections? it isnt that scary.....

Haylie - did you get in to see the Dr?

Hi Grace - glad to hear that bubby is treating you well

Hi Everyone else. hope your having a good day.

Julie- Westmead does let you transfer 2 but they STRONGLY dont recomend it. But as i see it, heaps of women fall pregnant with twins natrally. I can imagine their haste with huge multi pregnacies, like 3, 4, 5.....but 2.......i think that should be ok.

much love girlies!

oh suzie.....:hugs: i am thinking of you honey!!!!! Even if everything isnt fine, at least you know. And there is something that you can do!!! Oh and by the way DONT take the first sperm test as the final result......cause dh's first test was terrible.....and the 2nd test was perfectly normal. So normal that my fs told me i could do injections and try normally for another 6 months or so.......or do IUI but i said no we are doing IVF this is silly! So my dear friend.............go back for more and more tests as many as possible. It puts you more in control of this crappy situation of TTC!

Julie- if i get twins we would be soooooo happy, but if we get 1. I would be totally as happy!!!!!!! would just like anything!!!! :goodvibes:

Thanks Katiesmum i guess i am just finding it hard because i have no one for support here right now (Other then you lovely ladies). MIL is close by but has Absolutely no idea of what i am going through and is totaly no support and my mum is 7 hours away.

unfortunately it probably is very legal. bonus time is just that a "bonus" on top of their load. I imagine (SB i could be wrong) that they get extra pay if they don't take sick leave, it wouldn't account for all of his bonus

we had a restructure here and went from a department that paid 1/4ly bonuses to one that doesnt pay them at all. such is life

On the topic of fair / unfair work practices....

I was just going through my companies maternity leave entitlements.

I find it terrible that you cannot take maternity leave and paternity leave concurrently. Thats sad. You can have a week off together after the birth but then thats it. Maternity leave is shortened bu the length of paternity leave taken and vice versa. Too bad if you want to stay home together with your child for a couple of months and you have no annual leave.

WotWillBWillB
12-02-2008, 11:07 AM
In the workshop they gat a $200 bonus $100 of that is made up of the "Attendance" so if they were to have one day off regardless if they are sick or not or if they have a medical cert or not they loss that $100!

So he thinks it is not worth going to the Dr when he losses $100 for not going, then money for Dr and if we go to specalist it is more like about $150 (out of pocket expenses).

I am just a big sooky la la.

Oh that sucks! Big companies suck!!!! We own 2 businesses. We are in a family company with dh's family. So mil, fil, bil me and dh are all very intertwined!!!! It sometimes bothers me only cause bil isnt a "team player"! I have many threads about how freaking annoying he is! But it is working for us.......$$$ wise anyway!
DH and i live in sydney and dh runs the excavation company. BIL MIL and FIL live just outside of golbourne and run a pub. I swan between doing nothing and working sometimes in the pub! I use sometimes VERY loosly!
I used to nanny full time. I have qualifications in special needs children. Mainly kids on the autism spectrum! but not now with IVF being sooooooo important!! :D

oh and at the pub we give all parents, families and ttc couples "time off" to do what they need to...That is 1 thing about my in laws, they really respect families and want the parents to be able to go to school concerts, drs appointments, school carnivals ect! I am very proud of our maternity and paternity rules!!!!!! :D

ok so i have just noticed i am :ecomcity:!!!! as per usual! I spose i am just soooooo excited about you all being here and chatting!!! :smiliedance:

Would be lovely if all companies adopted the same approach as your in laws. In an age where it is difficult enough financially to have one person stay at home for an extended period of time with a child, I believe it should be encouraged by companies that the family have a couple of months together AT LEAST - before both parents usually have to return to work anyways.

We just see it as being human. We all have feelings and issues and i spose our employees are just lucky that if they cant make it to work, i generally can! I mean dont get me wrong, we do say no sometimes, but only to stupid requests like our head chef asking for 2 weeks off during school holidays! UMM HOW BOUT NO! He is our only chef and being in school holidays that is our busiest time!!!!! Mind u we did negotiate and he did get 1 week in school hols off!

My MIL and FIL are parents they understand how important it is for parents to bring up their children. Unfortunalty something they didnt get to do......hence the reason BIL is the spoilt child he is!!!

HI Everyone - wow chatty group today.

Well I am an accountant .... seems there is a few of us on here atm ...

I work Mondays and Tuesdays (so was not on much today as at work )

I am contract, so only get paid if I work .....which actually suits me fine as I am not exactly the most reliable of staff members at the moment. Between Katie, setting up for IVF and some other stuff I have going on, I have averaged about 7 hrs a week since before christmas .....

Anyway - hope you are all having a good day.

I have 3 jobs - 1 paid and 2 volunteer!

My paid job is in Administration for a University - in their medical school and based in a hospital (where i have unlimited access to lots of journals and research findings!) Obs/Gyn is one of the medical specialities here, very handy!! I've just finished studying Community Services Management and would love to go back to working in the non-profit sector in the future.

My volunteer job #1 is as a telephone counsellor for lifeline. I do about 6 hours a fortnight, but am on a break at the moment. Very rewarding work, but very draining if you are not 100% emotionally.

My volunteer job #2 is working on a Top Fuel drag racing team believe it or not. DH works full time and i get to travel around with the team. I look after catering and merchandise, as well as the odd mechanical job on the day. It is really fun, something i NEVER thought would be interesting. But it is great watching the team on TV and seeing their achievements.

I used to work in sales and marketing, however once i had connor my focus changed. so i am now a doula and it is the greatest job i have ever had. its very very rewarding, however, due to some family members being VERY unsupportive of it, i am now hopefully going to uni next semester and doing teaching. im sure i will still enjoy it but not as much as my doula work

Hi girls

What's everyone been up to today? We did a bit of shopping this morning, we got a new curtain for the dining room and I ordered a jewlery box for our god daughter who turns one next month and is having her naming day thing. It's so cute!

Prior to being a mummy I did the accounts for a nursing home- accounts receivable and payable as well as other admin stuff. Being a mummy is much more fun but I do miss the adult interaction at times.

p.s I am sick of having long cycles

Long cycles do suck. :(

Moonstone Mumma - it must be very hard to give up something you love 'cause your family dont support (or understand) it. :hugs: Though I am sure nursing will be fantastic.....

Haylie - the adult interaction is one of the main reasons why I went back to work. :D

I never thought that I would - thought I would be a fully time mummy .....but I actually do like my work, (and they are really really flexible with hours and stuff). I actually have found that I am a better Mummy for having that time to be a person too IYKWIM. Have MUCH more patience!!!

Katie loves daycare so it works out good for us.

I looked at your charts M2M - waiting ages to O on CD28 and then short luteal phase must be frustrating. Do you think the clomid helped lengthen your lp out to 11 days last cycle?

My luteal phase has been 9, 9 and 8 days last 3 cycles so I will draw inspiration from you if clomid works to lengthen yours! Will be more excited when you get your bfp this cycle!!!!:yelclap:

Good morning Ains how are you today!

ayse- yep O'ing on day 28 is frustrating!! :hair: I really don't know if it was the clomid that lengthened my luteal phase or if it was the VitB6. I tend to think it was the VitB6 because my first clomid cycle I did without it, my luteal phase was the shortest it has ever been, however I did start mid cycle that time so it could have buggered up all my hormones and thrown everything out of whack. I highly recommend trying to VitB6, it can't hurt and is actually really good for you. 8 and 9 day luteal phases make it really hard for a little egg to implant so definately you should try to lengthen that if you can. Are you starting clomid? I am hoping my luteal phase is even longer this time, well I hope I won't know how long it is as I will get a BFP instead of AF!!!

def look into homebirth. it has been found (in low risk pregnancies) that it is just as safe as at the hospital, and in most cases even safer. thats the path i will be heading when we have our next one. i think ains was also pondering on the subject as well.

While I think homebirth is FANTASTIC, it is not for me  Well not for #2 anyway, I don't have the confidence in myself after Mason's birth that went horribly wrong and so therefore it will be off to the hospital for me. I understand that women rave about homebirths.

But in honesty, I loved my hospital birth. I wasn't stressed at all. I was very comfortable and delivered two beautiful children. DD was completely drug free. AND I had the best OB in the whole wide world and DH I should add.

ayse- if the VitB6 doesn't work and you want to go to the Dr's but think they will turn you away cause it's not been very long, just go anyway. I went after only TTC for 5 months because I knew the luteal phase thing was a problem. And if you have to you can alway lie and say you've been trying for longer than you have.

OMG now i have NO idea!!! went to the dr and i have not o'd at all this cycle. he was going to put me on 3 lots of clomid (didn't tell him i was planning to stop) and to take it now half way through my cycle. i am also insulin resistant - so there would be very very little chance of my fall pg without the metformin.

so, the reality is that if i go off the meds i have sweet fa chance of it happening naturally. i mean i am interested to see if the clomid does eventually work. and what if i run into all this trouble later on? what do i d do ladies????

Hi All

While I am not into homebirths much myself, I certainly applaud anyone who decides to go for it.

Unfortunately today it is not seen as a mainstream choice ... which is really sad as many people who would like a homebirth end up having a hospy birth out of community (family etc) pressure - and cost!!! (dont get me started on that ).

I had a c/s for Katie (as she was breech) which actually ended up being a really positive experience for me, so will have another c/s - if I ever manage to have another :baby:

megaminz
14-02-2008, 12:11 PM
I also think people who have homebirths are brave,

I am terrified of the thought of giving birth at hospital let alone at home!!

My husband has a history of 12-14 pound babies with BIG HEADS :o in his family so there is NO way if I can avoid it that I will be anywhere that does not have the drugs on hand that I anticipate I will need to get through the experience!!!

As for me - I just had some really great news.

I have an appointment with the blood specialist next Friday!!!! YAY!!!! That will be cd20, which gives him a week (or a little longer) to do more BT's etc and decide that all is ok with me - and then I can still do the March cycle. YAY!!!!

Even if it takes a bit longer, at least I know that I am moving forward and will definitely be able to start the next cycle.

I was actually quite prepared to sit out March as I thought it would be much longer before I saw the specialist ....so am really happy!!!!

YAY!!!! YAY!!!! YAY!!!! YAY!!!! YAY!!!! YAY!!!! YAY!!!! YAY!!!! YAY!!!! YAY!!!!

Mummytomason, my DS1 was induced on his due date, 9lb4oz with a 38cm head (no wonder he got stuck) They say bubs are meant to get bigger but DS2 was also induced on his due date and was 8lb10 with a 36cm head (still above average but at least not bigger)

OMG our DS's were the exact same weight AND had the same head circumference  Mason was delivered by the ventous suction thingy though so I think it was so big because of the swelling.

Nomsie- yes TTC is much much harder than labour! At least with labour you know the end is near and your bub will be snuggled in your arms soon. With TTC you have no idea where you stand from one month to the next

Ains- wow, I wish I could have any car I wanted! You are very lucky! :D What will you get?

Mummy to Mason, I had the ventouse too! Registrar pulled so hard it came off and she went flying back into the midwives, DH thought she'd pulled off bubs head

DS2 arrived so quick (4cm dilated to delivery was 16mins total) 3 pushes, no intervention, no Dr, just midwives! It hurt but it was quick!

Wishing everyone BFP's, sticky baby dust :babydust2: and safe deliveries (however they end up)

was just catching up on the posts, for work I am an AIN (assistant in nursing or CSE3 (community service employee) (aged care) although that is hold 4 the mo, while I get some medical stuff sorted, and also have my own business on the web, making creams, ointments, powders etc, (mainly out of weeds) beleive it or not, have been doing markets, going quite well.

as for home births - I have always dreamt of a home water birth, but that is not possible now due to no cervix :crying:, but can't complain, I am alive and still ttc, :devil6:

Shea have a lovely time away. And come back on here when you get back!!

Grace sending you :goodvibes: for the lil one.

Hello to everyone else too. I am gonna be on here a whole heap more from next week so will bring myself up to date with everyones news.

As for me, I'm heading into O time. I have decided to send my :babydust2: to you girls though because for some reason I'm not fussed as much about this month. Signing up to IVF has made me relax a little bit about ttc for the next couple of months (I am still going mental thinking about it all the time though - I think I am just trying hard not to fall in a heap like I did when AF arrived this cycle). I will need a lot of :babydust2:at the end of March though when you all already have your :bfp:!!!

ayse- if the VitB6 doesn't work and you want to go to the Dr's but think they will turn you away cause it's not been very long, just go anyway. I went after only TTC for 5 months because I knew the luteal phase thing was a problem. And if you have to you can alway lie and say you've been trying for longer than you have.

M2m - Thanks for the advice - might use it if no luck in next 2 cycles.

However, all the talk in this thread today of baby's head circumferences and vacuum suction did make me cross my legs and wonder if the whole thing's such a good idea...

Hope everyone else had good Valentine's Day. I hit the jackpot with roses and A spa treatment voucher! :valentine:

I got nothing for valentines day either!

Well FF now says I O'd on day 19 like I suspected :yelclap: Check out my chart- http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/1c1c78 And the best thing about it was that the times we BD'd leading up to it were really really good, we were relaxed and not forcing it because we thought that O was ages away! I really feel like I'm in with a good chance this month. I'm still not 100% believing that I O'd because it seems like such a miracle to be so early for me but all signs seem to point to it so I just need to watch my temps over the next few days. And it would probably explain was I was so sick this time from the clomid because it was kicking in like it's meant to.

My step dad said this morning to me that I look different and I'm glowing. He doesn't know I could be pregnant! :bee:

Not sure Ains. It could be all the medication your taking.

Maybe some of ladies from IVF, have had similar experience.

MEKISS

Not sure if it's the medication Ains, but lately I have been feeling like that, the other night I didn't even want to go & sleep in the same bed as DH & it wasn't even like we had an argument or anything. I have found that in the last couple of months around certain times in my cycle I have even had really bad thoughts about our relationship & they just come from nowhere & I act like a total biatch (like when I was 16 & not using any contraception). It could be your hormones.

Sorry girls can't sleep.
I'm one of these girls who have trouble sleeping the night before christmas, I just get so excited.
PLUS I had to make another trip to the loo.

But I already have the best birthday present ever.

Happy Birthday Gracie ...... :flowerz: happybirthday :flowerz:

Hope you get a beautiful big cake ... and that yoru DH and kiddies make you a yummy bbq with a wide variety of meat and salad, and that the kiddies eat it all up.

Well Katie has been whingy and whiny for a few days....and not eating much etc. Last night I finally - as a last resort - gave her chicken soup which I made ages ago and froze as she didnt really like it. She ate a HUGE bowl of it!!!! and this morning, demanded soup for breakfast

Is much happier today. :D

Happy Birthday Grace!!! happybirthday:party::flowerz:

This time next year you'll have three little ones celebrating with you :cloud9: Have a lovely day and make DH at least make a salad!!! (a cake would be even better!!)

Well FF says I already O'd!!! My temps are wacky but then again last month my temps didnt coincide with when my bloods said I o'd...not sure what to think. Will keep Bding just in case. According to FF I am 3dpo with a 'high' score in intercourse timing! Haylie we could be testing around about the same time!

Goodluck Sweetserenitymoon! :)

I am so bored! I need to go to the grocery shopping, but honestly; the desire is not there! Normally I don't mind, but I just want to sit on the couch on BH all day. Only thing is, not many people are on the hub at the moment. Guess I should get off my bum, hey?

So, continuing the conversation with myself, just got back from the supermarket. You can always trust good old safeway- when TTCing isn't hard enough, every second woman there will be pregnant and glowing or have a little baby or toddler.

And then, once you realise and high-tail it out of that offending isle full of contented women, you find yourself in the baby-needs isle, with all the little clothes and tommy tippee stuff, and formula, and lotions and potions! I feel weird lingering in that isle. Like people would look at me and say "She's obviously not a mother, why is she looking at that stuff!" (How they would know I'm not a mother is beyond me, perhaps in my imagination it's written on my forehead!)

I thought about buying some HPT's, but unless I am late, I just can't bring myself to do it anymore. Not the least because it brings back feelings of being a naughty teenage girl who might have gotten herself into trouble! (Not that I ever was a naughty teenage girl, but again, I think that's how people would perceive me if I was to buy one!)

i always fell weird buying hpt's it feels like ppl think oh no another young one up the duff by accident to a one night stand i just want to yell its not an accident and we're engaged stop staring at me :o dp normally goes and buys them anyway. its funny had to buy one once when i was 17 and i didnt feel nowhere near as guilty and naughty as i do now :laughing:guess i'm just a nutter

Nomsie
17-02-2008, 05:14 PM
That's EXACTLY how I feel! (Without the engaged part! )

DP would NEVER buy a hpt, he is worried someone he knows would see him buying it!

I find if I am buying it for someone else (as you do when you are young) I never felt HALF as guilty, because I KNEW it wasn't for me!?!?!?!

ringneck
17-02-2008, 05:26 PM
thats the same with me. i get so nervous going in to buy a hpt always waiting for someone i know to pounce out and catch me  my dp has no problem buying them he's a prince. my bf in highschool had a scare and her older bro went and bought her one so sweet he even waited at the door to see if she was ok

Nomsie
17-02-2008, 05:40 PM
Oh lol that's so cute, both for your DP and your friend's bro!

Friends are wonderful in that they have no qualms in buying HPT's for others!

I like the idea of buying them on the internet, in bulk, but I haven't heard the best things about them!

I can't even bring myself to go buy a BBT thermometer! Because the check out chick would KNOW why I'm buying a BBT therm!!! Do I have issues or what?!

hi all, *huggles*

Ains - back still paining but gotta push through, life don't stop , see the surgeon again following monday and should know by then what he decides to do :hair:

Aww Nomsie and ringneck :hissy:its horrid isn't it, I have been doing market stalls last few weeks and I swear every 2nd person is pushing a pram :crying: and a few weeks ago was in a supermarket (just ran in 2 get a coupla loaves of bread for mum) and ran into a girl I haven't seen for about 5 yrs, and she says Oh Hi Kim, pats my tummy and says bub in there yet, I curtly replied no just fat and :crying: all the way home.

but on a positive not I am 5dpo and had a huge dip in temp this morning, :fingerscrossed: it was an implantation dip hehe ;-) (although more likely due to only having 4 hrs sleep) but 1 can dream, would soooo love to prove the baby predictors right hehe,

Blessings

Bubfee- that's great we will be testing around the same time!!!

SSM- enjoy your nephews birthday dinner tonight

Nomsie & Ringneck- lol I am the same. Usually I like to take Mason with me when I have to buy HPT's and make a point of flashing my wedding rings while I hand over the cash, mostly because I look about 18 (no offense to any 18 year olds who are TTC!) But now I order online anyway. Noms, you can get a BBT thermometer at lullabyconceptions.com , I have one from there and it's only $16.95 and will only take a few days to arrive.

Shairo- good luck, hopefully it was an implantation dip! :fingerscrossed:

I am now 5dpo and nothing exciting to report other than sore boobs but it would be too early to be a pregnancy sign I would think. I'm just really hoping my luteal phase is nice and long again and not all out of whack again since I O'd so early :fingerscrossed:

Nomsie
17-02-2008, 07:58 PM
Oh Ringneck, he is so sweet!

M2M, now I just have to convince DP to let me use his debt card to purchase it with! (I can't have one, the house is in my name!) Although, I did mention today that I wish I could have a debt card, and he said and I quote: "What for? Just use mine!" :devil6:

And, cool, all I need to do now is to hijack someones baby to take with me next time I need to go buy a HPT!

This is true- I have seen them and they are amazing! I would like one to just sit in a bouncer in the lounge room- it would never spew, poo, cry or need feeding and will always look cute!

Good luck tomorrow ringneck!!! I'll keep everything crossed for you :fingerscrossed:

:sunshine: Good Morning all

M2M - My birthday has been ok....Dh had to go into uni to study.
DH really struggles. I really don't understand why. Ok I'm going to have a little winged, but I would love it if the kids made me cards, but DH buys them and writes in them from the kids. I gave SO MANY hints for the kids to do something, but I didn't work.

Is it just my DH? or are others like this!

Only 4 more sleeps until I have my first OB appoiontment. :goodvibes:

Grace- you are not alone there  Usually DH buys the card on the day of my actual birthday or he will spring out of bed the morning of my birthday and quickly run in to write on the card and wrap the present. How hard is it to do it the night before?! And he never does anything sweet with Mason for me. I'd be more happy with a painting from Mason than diamond jewlery but I get neither!

Yay for your OB appointment!

I understand that women rave about homebirths.

But in honesty, I loved my hospital birth. I wasn't stressed at all. I was very comfortable and delivered two beautiful children. DD was completely drug free. AND I had the best OB in the whole wide world and DH I should add.

don't get me wrong i had a great hospital birth with DD and don't mind having another, but want to see if things happen diff at home eg quicker labour, doing it alone no intervention (sp)
