My almost 2 year old daughter for the past couple of weeks has been waking during the night for a nappy change, she gets out of bed grabs a nappy and brings it to me, while I am glad she is waking when she does a wee this will be great for night time TT but she isn't even day TT'ed.
Any suggestions on what I should do - do I encourage it or try and put a stop to it by not changing her??
Thanks
Jodi

I'm sorry you haven't had any replies.
I clicked on this for interest, as my 17.5 month old has also been waking up (lying on front, with bum in the air) and refusing to lie down on her back. Sometimes it's just a very full wee'd nappy and low and behold sometimes she's got a number 2. I'm changing her very quickly (otherwise she won't go back to sleep), and I just cop it on the chin.
I wonder what you ought to do with your child who is a little older. I suspect changing her...but given that she is giving you the cue, as she is aware of her need to go, it might be a great idea to start TTing her, which may also mean she could go to the toilet/potty if put in a safe place for her to go through the night....
I'll keep clicking to see what the others suggest.

My advice would be to encourage it. You don't have to start night time TT yet but if she knows when she has gone then soon enough she will know before she goes and wake up before - that will be a good time to start teaching night time TT. Don't worry, she won't be the first bub to be night trained before being day trained.
So encourage her to keep doing it, even if you change her nappy quietly and quickly at night maybe just mention that she's a good girl for tellingyou and then in the morning tell her that she 'did good' by telling you when she had a wet nappy.

Thanks ladies
I have started cutting down on the amount she drinks in the afternoon & evenings and that seems to have helped.
She isn't waking dry but her nappy is warm so maybe she is holding it longer now she isn't getting as many drinks.
We have started letting her wear knickers some days but she doesn't tell us before but while she is going. Which is a good sign. But hopefully we will be able to catch her beforehand just so she knows what the potty is for.

Thats so cute

She's well on the way! :yelclap: I'd ditch the knickers though, and just let her run around without pants, with a potty (or the back lawn!) handy, it's going to be a while before she recognises she needs to wee and still has enough time to get the knickers off. Every "accident" is a learning experience ("oh yeah, THAT'S what that feeling meant!") and she'll be out of nappies before you know it! ;)

I agree - I ditched the knickers with my DD for a week or so and it really helped as she saw the effect of not weeing and pooing in the toilet/potty. Apparently letting them play with it - things like looking, smelling even touching if you can bring yourself to let them (I couldn't) are all helpful in helping them realise that it is messy and better done in the potty without making it seem too hard or unacceptable.
