Hi all,

I'm Emmy, Im 33, married, a sahm and have 3 kids. [8,4.5 and 16mths]

My hubby and I have decided to move to the Central Coast some time this year.
We have lived in Bateau Bay before in 02-03.

We are thinking of living around the Gosford area this time and i was wondering what Kariong is like?

Is there any other areas that you recommend that are family friendly and not too pricey? We will be renting to start with.

It would be nice to make some new friends too as we don't know anyone on the coast as yet. I have family in Sydney though.

Thanking you in advance,

Em.

Hi, I am at Point Clare (5mins from Kariong)and love it here, we have a lovely school east access to public transport and a great bike track, you can get older houses cheaper. Kariong is nice there is a school there and a new High School being built but I have never lived there.

I have a friend who lives in Kariong, seems to like it.

I think pricier suburbs are more built up ones, sort of the developmental heart of the central coast. South would slightly be getting up there, but then marketing for the CC has been to get sydneysiders to clearer happy places, which is more aimed the coastal beach setting and less people... I.e. typically not gosford area. So, thats actually the cheapest area to live. Bit backward that.

Family friendly is all over. Im living near Bateau Bay and its the type of area I like with heaps of playgrounds, kids safe areas, pools and bays suitable for kids.. and it's quite a level area (from The Entrance just to the Bay) where when DD learns how to work the trike, will probably enjoy that aspect more lol But I kind of like that as it means no strenuous walking :p

we probably go umina beach area first. we will rent the first 6 month and then get a feel for the area and buy where we like it..
but it'll probably be around that area (umina beach/ kincumber/ saratoga....)
how about you??

Lila....Cool, Ive heard its nice around those areas.
Well, nothing is definite with us yet. I guess we will look around some more when we get there but I'd like to start looking at Kariong first because it a little cheaper and not far from the freeway.

Be careful around Kincumber, we did live there and had nothing but trouble there is a few areas to stay clear of, and yep they are the cheaper parts

Okay Saratoga? Davistown are nice places, they are quiet you have all things local like shops doctors pathology X-Ray, but if you rely on public transport it is not great Buses only come every hour and less on weekends. In early Summer the Mozzies are really bad. The School is lovely I have a cousins children going there and they are really pleased with it.

Kincumber is nice in certain places but like I said before they are the dearer parts. The same as Saratoga, Kincumber has everything swim schools, shops and is about 15 mins to Woy Woy train station (driving)

Green Point is nice has got some yukky parts but when you drive through you can see.

All those places are within 10mins of each other.

Out of all of them I would be looking at Point Clare, Tascott, Koolewong. Great public transport with easy access to shops, schools, doctors and mins from the freeway, IL's live at Tascott and FIL works at Kariong takes him 5 mins to get there. There you can get older places that are on good blocks. Alot of the other areas the prices are over rated.

If you have any questions about a particular place let me know, I am here often as with having all mine at school I really have nothing else to do other than house work and I really don't want to do that!!!!

thanks a LOt for your update.

tascott is also on my "buy" list, as well as davistown, bensville....

Don't get me started on sick kids i have My middle one at home with his asthma so no gym for me today.

I have my BIL in Bensville they like it but to me it feels like it is the type of suburb where you are judged on what you have got and they all do the lawns on the same day, looks too perfect IYKWIM. Umina is nice I used to work there haven't lived there but, they get alot of trouble at night near the surf club with young kids. Wamberal is nice!!!!!!!! But I haven't the money to buy there!
I am new to this area but so far so good. The school have been great and there is a couple of playgroups around. It was a more of an elderly area but young family are moving in so the area is growing.
