:oThis is a bit silly but DS1 will not eat sandwiches at school but really likes those Tuna to go packs. He's had one every day since school went back. Well I just remembered the thing about tuna, pregnancy and mercury. Does mercury pose as a problem for an 8 year old or can he eat as much tuna as he likes without worry?

This is the first thing in 3 years that I have found that he will eat at school

Canned Tuna does not have the high mercury levels that fresh bluefin tuna does - it is rated as low level.
Most of the tuna used is less than a year old and therefore hasnt had time to absorb much mercury.

It is mainly an issue with the older fish and fresh tuna steaks that you buy.

The body does clear out the mercury, so if you are worried, dont give him any on weekends to give hus body time to clear any that may be there.
