When DS eats his vegies they are mainly either roasted or steamed on their own, im not very creative and this must be getting boring and plain for him.
Does anyone have any ideas or recipes so I can cook them up and use them in a different way??? I am so not good at coming up with things that are interesting
Anything would help, thanks :D

I'm a plain jane too with DS's veges.
I just steam them and put them in his bowl for him.
Sometimes I put little pieces of cheese or spaghetti with it but other than I'm at a blank with what to do also.

So I'll be watching this space :chef:

I am a big fan of vegie wraps we have been having them at least once a week for a few years now, then dd3 was younger i would just lay hers flat on either pitta or mountain bread and usually she would just eat the vegies and leave the bread.

I just stir fry broccol, cauli, capsicum, diced pukpin or sweet pototo, mushies, onion, celery and then put it on the wrap with some sour cream and tsakiti dip and grated cheese. They love them and have since they were at that age where they could chew, if stir frying isnt enough to soften them you could still steam them. I know dd3 loved to dip them in the dips. Now she eats them when i wrap them too but they are a huge fave here and a quick throw together as well :)

Mmmmmm...... my kiddies would like those. What a great idea!

I've been thinking about asking around for ideas for something different to do with vegies but I want some inspiration for adult vegie sides!! I'm sick of steamed vegies with every other meal.
Plus we share all our meals with the kids so it cant be too fancy or spicy.

vegie pattes yum

basically you know how you make potato fritters (where you grate the potatoes mix in tiny bit of egg, spices whatever you want) do the same only add in a heap of cooked grated vegies too, like carrot etc. whatever is grateable lol and pan fry them.

Or maybe I just have weird taste? lol

Cauliflower cheese but with broccolli in it too is a winner at our house.. Or even just vegies covered in a white cheese sauce.

hey
my friends son was a very bad eater ( he was part tube fed) i was at there house one night and she was getting her DS dinner ready it was amazing he was into dinosaurs so she would do mash potatoes and stick his brocoli and cauliflower up right like trees into it and then make a swamp with pee and corn and then some grav for sand over the potato and then sit his meat in as wel and call it a dinosaur dinner he loved it

Oh, wait I've just remembered a dish my mum used to do.

Put chopped zucchini, chopped tomatoes, chopped mushrooms in a baking dish, add some small cubes of butter and some grated cheese over the top. Put in moderate oven (180 deg) and bake away. Only takes about 25 mins from memory. Its pretty tasty and nice and simple!

Oh, I have another idea. Try Taste.com for recipes.
When I need some inspiration I use that or just type in something in google and go from there. Like if I take out chicken or chops or whatever I type that in and see what recipes I can find! I keep searching til I find something relatively simple and with ingredients I already have!!

I add some cheese and melt it over the top when heating them up.

Or add half a small tin of baked beans and a little cheese. Or half a tin of spaghetti.

If we have a casserole or spag bol I save a little bit of the sauce and add a teaspoon to DS's vegies for something different.

I made a white sauce for silverside the other day and added that.

Or just simply steam or boil up your usual vegies. Add an egg and some breadcrumbs and make them into little patties and pan-fry in some oil. You could make a batch and freeze them. You could even add a can of tuna.

You can make, like, vege pizzas... with either Pita Bread or Muffins as a base...

You could get some of those little mini orange pumpkins, hollow them out and fill with a few different cooked veges (roasted is probably best so they're not soggy), then grill with a tiny bit of cheese on top, or coconut cream.

Or stuffed mushrooms or capsicums or eggplants...

On kebab skewers is probably kinda interesting too...

Stir-fried veg - yum :D

What about veg kebabs, marinated in something yummy before cooking in the oven?

I made really yummy veg fritters once, I think it was sweet potato, carrot, zucchini, and egg

Little Vegie frittatas that you make in a cupcake tray are always handy and easy to eat.

Also vegie "sausage rolls". Grate up things like carrot, capsicum, zucchini, sweet potato, chopped Bok Choy... whatever you all like. Mix with some cooked rice and cheese. Add a beaten egg and roll up in puff pastry and bake in the oven. You can freeze the uncooked portions too so that makes it nice and easy on days where you just dont feel like cooking.
