Hi all
thought i'd share this link I found to a pretty old (1999) article now, but it's about introducing solids and instead of going by ages it suggests looking at what your child can actually do and using that as a guide to when to introduce more complex foods.

just out of curiosity at what age did people introduce their bubs to solids and what cues/signs did you look for?

5 months. She was snatching food from our hands and smacking her lips if we ate in front of her. If her brother was eating she didn't take her eyes off him and reached out to him.

Also she was frustrated after just a breastfeed and wanting feeds all the time. Lots of fist sucking too.

at 4 mths, alice was pretty huge size-wise and was opening her mouth really wide whenever we brought food near her mouth and/or whenever we gave her the tiniest taste of anything. she just LOVED the new tastes and would keep wanting more (fruit mainly at that age: banana, mango, puree apple) so we figured she was ready!!!
