I was in the labour ward at St George. It was fabulous. The midwives were great, very caring, helpful and supportive. When I have my next bub I will definitely go back. A friend of mine used the birthing centre and she was really happy with it. Good luck with the IVF. Hope all goes well :fingerscrossed:

Hi

Yep I had DD at the birth centre 18 months ago...and now i am booked in for our 2nd due July.

I thought it was great...only saw 2 midwives -no drs the whole time...and one of them was a great help when I birthed my daughter.

oh and I live in Padstow - so there were no problems that I live in another area.

PM if you have any other questions

The St George birth centre is fantastic. I have had both my daughters there(water births) and I am booked in again for this little one due in October. I had the same midewife for both births, I wouldnt go anywhere else. I live in Georges Hall!!!! you deffinatly will have no problem getting there and I can give you the quickest route to get there. only takes 40min and thats was going at the speed limit lol. Hope the Ivf goes well. please keep in touch. Julia and the tribe.

oh great!!! I have been looking into it and it looks great! its either that or RPA birth centre! I know that with RPA you basically have to book in as soon as you fall pregnant!!! its very under demand!

Hopefully i can get 1 of these as my birth centre!!!

:hugs:

And i know you will get you :bfp: sooooooooo soon!!!!

Yeh i've heard great stories about both RPA & St George. My SIL had my nephew at St George Hospital and they were great there so i can only imagine the birthing centre will be great too... :fingerscrossed: I'm hoping for a water birth... what about you Ains??

Hopefully we can both get our :bfp:'s very soon!!!!

Ok - im going to be the downer.

I was booked in at St George - but ended up transferring to Sutherland.

Everytime i went to St George - esp for antenatal visits i would be physically sick - the place smelled horrific and the public toilets so dirty and foul. I did have one terrible occasion (and came straight onto here and told about it!) where i needed to give a sample and the toilets were covered in blood - and told 'it wasnt time to clean them'). DF and i did a tour of the maternity ward/birthing centre and there were many comments about how filthy it looked! I also waited for hours each appointment - despite having all my appts pre-booked! I had a different midwife each time who were rude - except for one midwife AGNES she was very lovely and when i told her about my awful time took steps to fix things. (was too late though - i was so turned off by the place).

After transferring to sutherland it was great - bright, open and airy - most of all clean feeling and looking. I was also put straight into antenatal classes - id been waiting that whole time!

I know so many people have had good experiences there at St George so they have to be doing something right! They also have a great reputation for obstetrics and as a teaching hospital.
