Hi
I am thinking about buying a Phil & Teds E3 Buggy and just want to know what are the good/bad points about it. I mostly want to know the bad things because I dont want to spend all that money and get a rubbish stroller.
Thanks in advance

I guess it depends on what you are looking for in a pram.
I had a bog standard 4 wheeler before I got the phil and teds (I have another bub due in July and didn't want to get a twin pram)
generally i like my phil n teds but IMO there is no one pram that does everything you want
Good points:
very light
easy to steer
not too wide
folds up flat (except for wheels but they come off really easy if you are pressed for space) I can fit all the groceries in the boot now (I have a "family" sedan)
DD seems to think it is comfier than the other pram.
Baby sleep settng is totally flat and not rigid, sort of rocks.
Lets plenty of air through.
Bad points
doesn't automatically clip shut when folded, (you have to clip a strap around the handle and through the front wheel)
bit hard to put up and put down with a bub under one arm
bag rack underneath is a bit small and flimsy and you cant fold up the pram with anything big in it.
wheels need to be pumped up.
not much weather protection, have to buy P&T accessories to cover both kids, these can be pricey, mind you at least there is the option some 3 wheel prams with toddler seats offer NO protection at all for the toddler.
no where to hang DD's favourite pram toy.
Hope this helps, remember everything is relative have a good hard think about HOW you will be using a pram, ie will you always be storing it folded up, how much boot space do you have, will you be using it for shopping or long walks, does your baby like to feel snug n secure, or sit up high and watch the world, do you plan to have 2 kids close together, etc etc etc.
good luck with everything
I agree with the comments above.
Other things I don't like about the Phil and Ted's - the harness involves a large centre piece that is too big - even now on my DD2 who is 17 months old it comes up under her chin - it means that the straps are never snug and secure - always loose, which has made it easy for her in the past to wriggle and extend the straps and then climb out of them:eek:
I also don't like the fabric over the front wheel - a toddler pushing their feet down acts like a brake on the front wheel and stops the pram.
Our seat wore through within 7 months - the fram kept catching when it was folded and broke through the fabric. They did replace it free of charge but I wasn't that impressed. Our rear axles have bent twice now - the first time they were replaced, this time we haven't gone in yet - just means that the pram doesn't steer as easily as it could. I also find that the valve for the inner tubes on the tyres goes inside the wheel easily and is hard to get out.
Apart from that the actual seating arrangement is good for two children and I have seen nothing on the market that matches that. If you aren't looking for a pram that can be a double then I would recommend a mountain buggy over the Phil and Teds any day.

Hi
Thanks for your replies. I just want to use the stroller for one baby. My other choice was the Mountain Buggy but wanted to find out about the E3 because it was cheaper.

Read Choice online as they had a warning put out about the Phil and Teds not being safe (and completely unsafe when coupled with a toddler seat). I can't remember the details as it was back in November when I read it but it did state that in their opinion after testing it was unsafe.

You can pick up a 2005 model Mountain Buggy Urban for less than $600. I love my MBU and wouldn't part from it. I think it's great. It's worth the extra money you pay in comparison to other brands.

I was pretty sure of buying the Phil and Teds pram (for the toddler option) until I read this choice study done on it  check it out: Choice (http://www.choice.com.au/viewArticle.aspx?id=104846&catId=100510&tid=100008&p=1)
