View Full Version : Help! Constipation after immunisations
My bub is 10 weeks old and had his first needles on Tuesday. Ever since he hasnt done a poo - he seems a tad grizzlier but I dont know if this has anything to do with it.
Has this happened to anyone else?
I was thinking about putting some sugar in water for him.

Anyway....if he is brestfed, then it is extrememly unlikely that he is constipated. It is normal for them to go up to 2 weeks without "going." My DS#1 went once every 10 days from about 10 weeks until 6 months - it was great! So, it must be unrelated and just a coincidence.....he might just be a bit grizzly as his body adjusts to having the vaccine - I htink that is quite normal:)
If he's bottlefed, then 'm not sure but I am sure smoeone else will come along soon with some info! In that case, disregard the above hehe! I personally dont think that sugar would be a great idea for a young bubs:)

Hi Carls,
If he is bottle fed, try adding a level teaspoon of malted milk powder to his bottles for a few days to see if it makes any difference....tends to make them a bit softer and go a bit more often...like frenchstar said, if he is breastfed, disregard above!!!
Hope he's feeling better soon......
Thanks for the advice - he is breastfed.
I put some sugar in water in a dropper for him, and i have seen very little poos in his nappy now. Lets hope this gets things moving!
:)
