Hi Rileysmummy
I had to give my son losec as well from 6 weeks onwards. I sucked it up with a syringe and squirted tiny bits in his mouth at a time. When you do small slow squirts he hopefully will not have enough in his mouth to spit back out (I had to do this before he had each feed) This may seem time consuming but it does work and is really well worth keeping up. It does seem to get easier as you keep doing it.
I hope this helps :fingerscrossed:

I have a Riley to:yes::smiliedance:

We use a syringe as well.. and try and get it as far back in his mouth as we can. A trick my doctor showed us.

We also find he swallows it better when hes crying which is most times as he hates it.

Poor bubbas.

my bub has been on losec since he was 4 weeks old. i use a syringe too. we put it right in the side of bubs cheek as the paed said this is the best way to avoid spitting it out. we just do a little at a time. we used to use the liquid losec as prescribed by the GP, but the paed said that the tablet form was just as good and to just dissolve it in a few mls of water. It is literally half the price so worth the change and bub hasn't had any problems with the change. he doesn't like either of them really, but has gotten used to swallowing it better. always screws up his face!!! poor little thing.

We crushed it up on a tea spoon and mix it with some water and then spoon it into her mouth. You have to make sure you get all the tablet bits in them because the outside of the tablet is the important part they need in their tummy. We never had any dramas with the spoon. Always had a problem with the syringe though!!

I dont have an personal experience on how to administer losec as with mikis we just bang it donw the tube, but i do know from other mums that they say the best way is t put the syringe in the mouth at the side of a dummy boob bottle what ever baby will suck and the sneak it in

also i know most tend to say the liquid is better

My DD has been on Losec for almost 12mths now.... she has it in a syringe first thing in the morning.... we mix it with 2mls of Colic Relief from Brauer... it has a nice taste and she loves it.... we tried water and she didn't like it at all... The Colic Relief is a natural medicine... Ped said its fine to give it to her like that... anyway as long as she take it...

I was told by the Ped not to crush the tablet as the small pellet in the tablets will not work properly.... the leaflet that comes with the tablets does say this too... just hard when you are giving it to such a small baby... just try to disolve it the best you can...

Goodluck...:hugs:

Hi there, my 6 month old has been on losec for 4 1\2 months i was finding it very difficult at first too. i now disolve it in a little watered down juice and slowly squirt it in with a 10ml syringe aiming at the cheak, it lets her taste it but it doesn't end up going down thr wrong hole if you squirt at the cheak.
