Hi Everyone,

We're new in Perth (what a beautiful place...) and are interested in moving to Doubleview as it seems convenient for the beach, not too far from the city, good shops around, etc.

Does anyone know what the area is like and what the kindergartens/primary schools are like? We've looked at a few houses in the area and it seems that the northern area of Doubleview is not as nice as the southern bit closer to Wembley Downs area.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a ton.

Lara :)

Hiya! I used to live near Doubleview. I was in Innaloo. Doubleview is pretty nice, but pretty expensive. You're right the houses tend to be nicer near Wembley Downs. I have some friends who live in Doubleview and they've told me before that the houses get more expensive the closer to the beach you are, and the crime gets a little bit worse the closer to the units in Scarborough you are (But don't worry the crime isn't high, just thought you should know). Also there are more villas and units than houses in Doubleview, so if you are looking for a house with a backyard, the prices shoot up. Have you checked realestate.com.au or reiwa.com.au? They are really handy. It can give you a list of houses available for rent and sale in the areas you are looking for, as well as in neighbouring areas. You never know you may find the perfect place in a suburb close by.

As for schooling etc, there are quite a few schools, child care centres and playgroups in the area, but if you're unsure, ring the Child Health Centre in Scarborough. I still go there with Brion, I see Mary, she's lovely and really helpful. Her number is 93412180. She's there on Thursdays and Fridays. If not Kathy is there Mon - Fri on 93411135. But I'd ring Mary first. She's nicer and more eager to help.

GOOD LUCK!!:fingerscrossed:

Hi Jude,

Thanks very much for the info, a great help.

I see you're in Duncraig, is it nice there? we were looking at Sorrento and Duncraig but then decided that Doubleview was half the distance to the city for my hubby to go to work.

We saw a duplex today in Doubleview for $250 per week which we thought was very cheap compared to what we've seen since we arrive in Perth 10 days ago, even in the same area for $340+. Although the duplex didn't have air con or a dishwasher! 2 priorities for me really... Also, it only had a courtyard which I don't think is enough with a 22 month old in the house.

I will give Mary a call next week.

Thanks again for your help.

Lara

No probs! Glad I could help.

I love it here in Duncraig. And to be honest, because Duncraig is so close to the freeway it doesn't make much difference at all timewise getting to Perth. Peak hour traffic makes the going slow most mornings and arvos anyway no matter where you are. Sorrento's nice, so's Hillarys. We're renting a 4 bed 2 bath for $240 here. No aircon, but it's double brick and tile so it doesn't get hot.

You should check out Padbury too. It's not as flash. but for the price range you are looking at, you could score a place with a pool and aircon and a dishwasher! You have to be quick to get in there though!! They go like hotcakes!

Hi Lara

Just adding my 2c worth (although never lived in Doubleview myself), my Grandparents used to live in Doubleview and we used to love visiting them there. I have some great memories of taking bread down to the ducks to feed at Herdsman's lake.

Glad to hear you finally made it to Perth - I remember you posting about living in different suburbs before you came.

Welcome.

Hello...
I live in Doubleview..And its great!!!I used to live in Scarborough for 2 years (Only 500 metres from the beach!!!)...Now I live about 2 kms from Scarb. Bch.
Its fantastic..Especially because when its hot you always get the sea breeze first when you live near the cost..
Our rental house is not pricey at all....I mean its no 5 star..But its not **** either.
I just love the area
:yelclap:

By the way we only pay $190 a week...so not expensive at all

Hi there,

Thanks for all your replies.

We're now looking in Innaloo as well as it's just next to Doubleview and still only 5minutes to the beach, near to Innaloo Shopping Centre as well as Karrinyup Shopping Centre, near to all the Osborne Park shops, near to the Beach House play centre etc. etc. and only about 12 kms to the city, seems like a very, very convenient part of Perth.

Is Innaloo about the same as Doubleview? Looks like a nice area.

Thanks again.

Lara

I used to live in Innaloo. I have only just recently moved from there. And you're right, it's pretty much the same as Doubleview. It's really centralized to everything in Perth, so a good place to be. Good luck with the hunt!!:fingerscrossed:
