View Full Version : I've heard....
I've heard several times from random people that after IVF, fertility can spontaneously return.
I even know one couple who after trying unsucessfully at IVF for several cycles, got pregnant naturally twice thereafter. (for unexplained infertility, though)
Does anyone know anything about this?
I'd love to think this IVF pregnancy has stretched the scars out of my fallopian tubes.
Is that even possible?

 it is actually true that some people have conceived naturally after having IVF .....
Slinkymalinki (in the IVF threads now) has 2 bub from an ICSI cycle a few yrs ago ... and had undergone a few cycles of IVF this time around....and was having a month or two off between cycles and conceived naturally.
Jogora (also in IVF threads now) was doing a FET cycle, did a naughty thing and bd'd when she was o'ing and is now pg with twins (1 from FET and 1 naturally conceived)
I think it does depend on your circumstances, but certainly pregnancy does increase your fertility.
Good luck

My friends waited years to have their daughter and they finally had her after numerous IVF attempts and several miscarriages.
When their daughter was about 7-8 months, they decided to give it another go and started taking fertility drugs in preparation for IVF and fell pregnant :) They had another daughter!!!

My Aunty and uncle had to go through IVF back in the late 80's and conceived twins. Nearly 5 years later they got a lovely surprise when a daughter was conceived quite unexpectedly and naturally.

I don't have any personal experience with IVF or even TTC...
However, I do know a couple (much older than I am) who tried and tried and tried for about 12 years. They had IVF about 13 times before they FINALLY had a baby that went past 15 weeks (she had many miscarriages...). Their problem was due to her having ovarian cancer at some stage, and making her ovaries a bit... I dunno, they just didn't work well. Her husband's sperm also had unusually large heads (I laughed when I heard that... I just pictured these little wriggly sperm with these gigantic heads that they had to literally DRAG around...).
Anyway, sorry for rambling... basically, after they had their son, a result of IVF, they went on to have another baby, not long afterward (within a few months of trying), all by themselves!
