I am pretty sure it doesnt say anything in the Bible about God parents, so, no, I dont believe they are required:) It is a lovely thing to have special adults that care for your kds though, so if you want to, then thats great:) As far as I see it, their role would be to teach the kids about the Bible and foster their relationship with God, and also to pray for them:)

Good luck with it

In our church, Godparents and Parents take a vow to bring the child up as a Christian, to teach him about Jesus, to bring him to church, to remind him of his baptism, to encourage him in his Christian journey, to be a good Christian role model. I think that's about it :D Basically when I chose Vallerie's godparents, I chose a couple who share my basic parenting philosophy, who share my basic values and morals, who I know will be good role models for her, and who will be there for her emotionally if me or DH can't.

Hope that helps!!
