I found a name in the baby names book that I quite like. It's a little bit "out there" I guess, but I don't think it's anything too weird. It's pronounced as it's written, it's easy enough to spell, I think it sounds like a boy.... but DH says it's a suburb of Sydney..??!!! Is this true, and if so, what connotations does this suburb have?
Connotations, like, for example we live in Adelaide, and even though MIL's name is Elizabeth and we like that name, we couldn't call our baby that because here in the northern suburbs, Elizabeth is "scum-ville" to put it nicely (no offense to any Lizbf people, I have lived in Lizbf Souf, so I feel I have the right to hang sh*t on it). Another example, I wouldn't call a kid Cabramatta because it makes me think of heroin dealers (plus, it's a pretty weird name to call a kid) (no offense to anyone whose kid is called Cabramatta:D)
OK so here's the name:
TREMAYNE
Any and all comments welcome.

It sounds fine - I'd associate it with a dark skinned (I'm trying to be politically correct and all) americian boy/man though more than a suburb (that I don't even know if the suburb exists).
LMAO sorry but imagine a kid called Cabramatta ha ha ha ha
I agree with MissUnderstood but hey if you like it and want to use it go for it!
Yep, I think of it as an afro american name too.
It is actaully cornish meaning place of stone and wood (I think......)

I'm not sure if its a suburb or not.
I have a friend whose little boys name is Tremayne. I really like it and it suits her little boy.
Queenie, I loike it. But it does sound a bit 'black'.. maybe cause it reminds me of Jermaine Jackson?? That's not a bad thing. Kind of funky in a way actually.
Im in Sydney and havent heard of a suburb called Tremayne. I like it but as its a long name think of what nicknames it could be shortened to and see if you like them.
eg Tremmy? (quite like that)
My son is Oliver but always gets called Oli which we love.

I just did a quick search of this name in the Sensis Where Is? site and according to it there is no suburb or place called Tremayne in Australia.
Love it as a name though!
Maybe because it sounds so similar to Balmain when you say it quick is the reason he thought it was a suburb?

I have no problem with it, though my DH isn't a fan.
I think the suburb your DH is thinking of is DRUMOYNE (SP?) :)
Oh now I know where Ive heard it before!
There is a hair salon in Toorak in Melbourne.
I met a girl called Tramayne once. She was nice, but I do think of it as a girl's name.
I'm with Rainbowbrite, I think he is thinking of Drummoyne the suburb. Tremayne is a great name, I like it a lot!
I try to say "Drumoyne" and I sound like I'm trying to say Tremayne in a Kath & Kim voice LOL
