hubby and i would like to build a home on his parents land as they have 60 acres and we love it there and thought this would be a cheaper option for us rather then buying elsewhere but dont know if there is anyway we could get a home loan to do it as the house would be ours but not the land until his parents pass.

any ideas as i know that the banks need security when the lend and want something that can be repossessed.

With regards to building on parents land unfortuately you are unable to unless it is your land only. Could it be possible to subdivide a proportion off the land and have that land transfered to your name? If this is possible then it will not be a problem, however you will need to meet all other lending criteria etc.
