Has anyone ever had a false positive with a HPT???

Has anyone ever had af and still been pregnant???

I did a HPT last Monday afternoon, and got a very faint line(myself, df and my mum could all see it was there). Following morning I began spotting which lasted around 48 hours before what seemed like a normal period started. I still have an inkling that I may be pregnant, though I'm not sure if it is just in my head because of the positive reslt I initially got. I retested the following morning(invalid test - no lines at all) and again the next morning with a negative result. I rang eht pregnancy test company who agreed teh results seemed odd and are sending me out a replacement pack, so I will retest then.

In the meantime I was curiious to hear from others who may have been in a similar situation.............

I have had a faint positive which was followed by AF a day or 2 later (and negative HPT) and my gyno said it would probably have been an early miscarriage.

However there was a TTC who recently got AF and then later found out she was 7 weeks pregnant, so anything is possible. Maybe get a blood test?

Sound like it could be positive and just implantation bleeding ??? Maybe a Chemical preg (Dont know to much about these)

What brand were they?? Im ttc and got opk kit from first responce, I had 4 out of the 7 Invalid, I rang the companny and was told they would send a replacement pack, They are based 1 hour from me and still Im waiting 1 week and 2 days later. Nothing has come.

My SIL to be had AF and then found out she was 9 or 10 weeks pregnant so its still possible to get AF and then find out your pregnant.. so she was pregnant when she had the AF IYKWIM! lol.. Good luck and i hope you get the result your after :yelclap:

Interesting..... same brand. I called on Wednesday morning, I was expecting it to be here by now. I'd call them again if I were you, I intend to myself if I don't have them by wednesday.

Its also possible that you WERE pregnant, but aren't anymore. Sometimes, if you test 'early' (ie before or just when your AF is due), it may come up as a positive test due to their having been a fertilised egg, but that it kind of gets 'washed away' when AF starts, so to speak.

They call it a "chemical pregancy.", which is essentially a very early miscarriage.

ps: It happened to a girlfriend of mine, she tested a few days before her period was due had a faint line. Two days later she got AF and tested again. Came up negative. It means she was pregnant but it didnt hold. That's why it's called chemical because it's so early, between 3 and 4 weeks.

I have had this happen twice.
First time my dd was about 10months old i got a + hpt and then started bleeding the next day took my hpt to the drs and he re-tested and did a bt and they were -, he said it was an early miscarriage or chemical pregnancy.

The second time was about 5 months before i fell pg with ds2 same thing but this time no bleeding but neg bt tests and he said the same thing as the other dr.

This happened to me in July and it was an early m/c. I really hope this isn't the case for you :fingerscrossed:

I had this. I got a faint positive. Then I bleed. I got a BT as I needed an x-ray if possible to check a hand injury. BT inconclusive and a BT a couple of days later was negative. Althought they weren't confirm it but I think it was a m/c.

You never no though, maybe it has stuck in there. Test again in a few days. If still negative I would think that you have probably m/c.

Yeah, I was presuming it was an early miscarriage............for those who have had them, was your bleeding any heavier than normal?? Mine wasn't, but I thought it would have been. I would be surprised if I am pregnant as it jsut seems very unlikely, but I just have a niggling feeling.

To begin with I just had a couple of days of light bleeding which went away for a couple more days. Then I got a heavy AF that had brown/black blood and lots of clots (sorry if TMI!).

I have had false + 3 times now,the first was a little over a yr ago,i was 2-3 weeks late for af,it came up + and then a few days later i mc'd i was 7 weeks pg.The second time i had 3 false + and then about 3 weeks later a blood test that was - i got af.The third was just recently i done a test at 9dpo,and then about 2 mins later put it down and then went back to it later and it was a pretty dark + you could def see it.Then on cd26 at 11dpo i got af it was really heavy and clots,i had bt and was all - so was another false + hpt.

I think they are so unreliable for me,as they don't show for me early anyway so i should just wait in future.

I have had BFP on HPT 3 times now.

-In july I got BFP then m/c at 4.5 weeks (doc confirmed definate pregnancy as HCG rose to 139)

-In Sep, BFP followed by AF the next day

-In November, BFP, HCG level 8, followed by AF the next day...(doc could not confirm definate pregnancy)

When mine happened my AF was not noticably heavier.
