BF all the way here!! Unless there are "issues".... but I have been fortunate to have 2 great experiences with BF - so, hopefully this one will be just as good!

But  to however people wish to feed their bubs!

I am a born jersey cow - I start lactating at about 5mths pregnant (did with girls), so I will be breastfeeding.
Will probably have to wean at about 3 months though, because I will have to go back to work.
I'm a bit apprehensive about it this time, Kaidy was a real power sucker, and gave me bloodblisters and cracked nipples, so I am not looking forward to the first 14days or so!
:iagree: with Manz. I know there are a lot of women who would LOVE to BF their bubs, but simply can't. There are also those who have no interested in BF - I wish them all the luck no matter how they feed their bubs! Healthy bubs for all! :smiliedance:

Breastfeeding. Its the easiest laziest, most economical way to feed my babies.

Some people have told me I should bottlefeed to take the pressure off myself but I don't know how. My husband wouldn't clean and make up bottles. Sounds like a lot of work to me.

But every woman and family is different.

I'm just going to see how we go.
The amount of pain I went through with my first (and pretty much struggling until 7 months), the second was just as bad.
I would love to, but if not, so be it.

sounds a bit like my place.
would love, love, love it to work out this time around.
am even going off to have esoteric healing therapy this time around to resolve past "issues" (said as 'isthues" in gayed up lisp)

fingers crossed it works out this time. :D

I just loved breastfeeding and fed both boys till 12 months, however, I had sore nipples with small cracks first time and had to find the courage to latch the baby everytime with curled toes.

Upon advice, the 2nd time I used a product called Mothers Mates (they are about $30 from a chemist) they are silicon and washable and u where them between feeds they heal and protect, just ask if me want more info. Anyway, my sister and I swear by them. Still got sore nipples but teamed with Lansinoh they reduced to soreness/severity to under a week.

A great product!!! + recommended by the Breast Feeding Assocation.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

i used the nipple shield and lasinoh for a long while with the first.
second bub had terrible cracks etc, ended up expressing for 6 weeks or so until the milk dried up.
i couldn't stand the terrible pain, it brought tears to my eyes everytime (and the curled toes!), and thought why am I putting myself through this......:(

i BF DD for 9 mths, then DS for 6 mths, so i plan to Bf the next one but i plan to feed for at least 12 mths this time, with both i stopped when teeth came through (wasnt only reason but was the main one) so i plan to join NBA (national breastfeeding assosiation) to get some help/ support with that issue:)

and :iagree: with kymmy, stuff washing, steratising, boiling etc, if you dont need to, i understand this is some ppls choice, and that others dont get a choice as mentioned above and i respect that too:)

I voted Breast feeding as i am another born cow but had big problems breast feeding DD that after 5 days the doctor pulled it up and said no more- she was sick and my milk was making her recovery slower :(

Gosh yes the sore nipples, agonising. I also had 4 bouts of severe mastitis but I trudged through.

I wonder if I will have the same sore nipples this time. I am kinda hoping that by continuing to BF Oscar my nipples will stay tough. :D

I am definitely going to try really hard at breast feeding, but as it's my first I'm not sure how I'll go. But I certainly will try my hardest.

I personally don't like the pressure that is put on us to breastfeed!!!

I fed no1 for 5 days and was such a mess it was terrible, once I put her onto a bottle we were both much happier. And touch wood she is a very healthy happy little girl

I fed no 2 for 3 mths as she was a natural and loved it, then one side of my breasts dried up totally so I gave it away too hard feeding on one side

This time I plan to do a little of both I will feed during the day and DH can do a bottle feed last thing at night that way we both get a decent block of sleep.

Well that's the plan anyway, I think with feeding it depends on the child and yourself big time, go with the flow and do what make you and baby happy I say

One thing I know for sure is that for something that is meant to be "so natural" it's bloody hard work not to mention painful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lissa, loved your idea with the one bottle feed for the mid-night feed. Then I thought about it, and imagined the pressure and pain in my boobs by the next feed = OW! Probably won't do that!

Breastfeeding fulltime here. On demand, straight from the source. Breastfed my toddler til he self weaned, and plan to do the same this time round. We got through cracked nipples, thrush amd mastitis and I'm so glad I pushed through those difficult days. We enjoyed a great breastfeeding relationship, and I definately think it contributed to our close bond, to his wonderful health and immunity, to my coping ability as a parent, and to helping the environment. I'm looking forward to doing it again.

Yeah it is painful at first but once they settle down it's fine.

Give it a go you will love the extra sleep :D

Just to let you know that the Mothers Mates are not shields but a protector you wear between feeds, they really do help, a midwife recommend them and I felt so good using them just knowing my nipples weren't getting any worse.

And ladies don't forget the weight u loose feeding, I was back to my pre baby weight at 9 months eating anything, I had a lot to loose and the feeding did it. I will feed this one longer (last baby) as feeding does condition your body but leaves you with no boobs , I think you get so used to having a bust during the pregnancy and after they seem even smaller when weaning... But they do regain some shape down the track.:ecomcity:
