I am currently looking at studying to become a doula. But I have a few questions you may be able to help me with.

1. What is the demand like for Doulas in SE QLD??

2. What is the standard " fee" you charge, and what does it include?

3. Are there Doula schools or is it just online courses?

In advance~ Thanks so much for taking your time to answer these questions

Hi Stacey,

I'm still doing my training at the moment, but I'll try to answer some of your questions. Though i'm sure there will be someone else who can answer them better for you!

1. What is the demand like for Doulas in SE QLD?? I think there is a demand, but where I am there are not many doulas, so I'm still trying to find out myself

2. What is the standard " fee" you charge, and what does it include? i'm still training at the moment, but I would love to see other answers to this question

3. Are there Doula schools or is it just online courses? I'm doing my course online with Childbirth International. I'm not sure if there are any schools/courses that are offered here in Queensland.

HTH!

1. What is the demand like for Doulas in SE QLD?? there are heaps of Doulas here, but from another post you wrote in im guessing you are near Redcliff? to my knowlege there are no Doulas there at all... however, im currently on leave and still getting 5 or so enquiries a day, so there is definatly work around!

2. What is the standard " fee" you charge, and what does it include? I charge $1200 - but offer monthly appointments, and fortnightly in the last month, rather than just 1-2 appointments. i also aim to go and see mums 3 times in the first week after birth, and weekly after that for the first 4-6weeks. but most Doulas dont do that, and charge less ($800-$1000)

3. Are there Doula schools or is it just online courses?
there are schools, in sydney/melb (i think) but for us to do it up here its online all the way :) i went thru optimum birth, and for anyone living in brisbane i would recommend them all the way, the owner/director Chris lives locally and has done alot of 'extra courses' etc for brissy doulas, and is only ever and email/phone call away. shes awesome! :D

hope that helps :)
