Cot or bed??

Hi there,
Just wondering, at what age are you supposed to put them in a bed rather than a cot?

My DD has been trying to climb up out of her cot for a few days now (she can only get a foot on the bar) but it made me wonder. I understand 14 months is too young, but what age is appropriate?

My DD was 14 months when she learned to climb out of her cot.
One night i was in the lounge room watching TV when i heard lil footsteps running down the hallway, at first i thought i may not have put the side up but it was.

It was really hard to try and keep her in a big bed but i found that if i shut her bedroom door she wouldnt get out of bed

I'm not really sure what the "right' age is but i moved my little one into a bed after he tried Hurling himself out of his cot onto the floor..! He was about 20months .. he had tried putting his leg over the side for afew months prior to that but that's as far as it went at first..
He had abit of a hard time staying in bed at first but as he was alittle older, he quickly got the idea!!
I moved him into a bed cause i didn't want him getting hurt climbing out of the cot!!

With my eldest she went into a bed when she was 17mths purely because we needed the cot for her sister.

With my youngest she was 13mths I know a bit young but it worked for her/us. She was always trying to get out of the cot and because my girls shared a room she always wanted to sleep in the big bed so one day I let her and we never looked back.

Whilest there is always the do's and don'ts with raising children I really believe you have to do what is right for your situation, use it more as a guide then what you have to stick to.

I am pretty sure that I put DS#1 i na bed from about 14 months, for the same reason - he could climb out of his cot and it is dangerous. I put him on a matress on the floor first.

DS#2 is 21 months and still in his cot, he is so tiny that he could never climb out LOL!

I dont htin kthere is any right or wrong age but climbing out of a cot is dangerous. Maybe try a mattress on the floor for awhile or get a low bed with sides (our DS has a racing car bed which is really low!)
